    Hi,
To adjust Ring tone, Handsfree, Answerback and Speaker off-hook call announce, follow this instructions....
Make sure the volume is idle and the handset is on-hook, press the VOLUME UP to increase volume and VOLUME DOWN to decrease volume. This adjusts volume for your telephone's ring tone, handsfree answerback and speaker offhook call announce simultaneously....

Sorry for the initial erroneous message, this is the proper way as written in the manual...

    Take care

The volume control only changes the volume of the handset, headset or speaker. The volume for the ringer is on the left side of the phone, there are three settings, mute medium and loud.

Adjusting the Ringer, Earpiece and Speaker Volume

Adjusting the Ringer Volume

You can choose from four ringer volume settings (off, low, medium, and high) separately on each handset or the base.

With the phone in standby, press or on the handset or VOLUME or VOLUME on the base. The handset or base sounds the ringer at that level.

Use on the handset or VOLUME on the base to make the ringer volume louder. Use on the handset or VOLUME on the base to make it softer or turn it completely off.

When you hear the ringer volume level you want to use, stop pressing keys.

The handset or base will use the new ringer volume starting with the next incoming call.

Note: If you set the ringer volume to Off, the handset or base won't ring. Other handsets or base will ring according

to their individual settings.

Uniden Model EX 14560 Ringer off How to put ringer on

Here some solutions for your problem + a link to the user manual.

**Selecting the Ring Tone and Volume
Your phone has five different ringer tone/volume combinations you can choose from.
To select the ringer:
1) With the phone in standby, press [vol/ / ] or [vol/ / ].
2) The phone will sound the different ring tones at different volumes. To turn the ringer
off, select RINGER OFF.
3) When the phone sounds the ring tone and volume you wish to use, press [end].

**Temporarily Mute Ringer
If the handset is off the base while an incoming call is ringing, simply press [end] to mute
the incoming ring. The ringer will sound with the next incoming call.
Note: You can only mute the handset ringer if the handset is off the base when the phone starts
ringing.

Yes, just set the receive mode to "manual" the machine will then just ring when a fax is incoming and not print. It may become annoying after a while because the sending machine will try to send numerous times. You can get around this by setting the ring volume to mute.
