    Thank you for responding.

I should have been more specific.

When I connect my ipod touch to the docking station and the function is to ipod mode, I do not get any audio. I checked the volume setting on my ipod and on the unit. All volume controls where set to the highest amount. I then played with the mute function to see if it was on. Last I changrd the fuction mode to AM and then to FM radio (no antenna attached) just to see if I would heaf any static. In all the instances mentioned I did not hear any sound.

My ipod touch was automatically updated with the software and I was thinking that could be a problem but I shold hear static when in a radio mode.

It is acting as if a mute switch is turned on somewhere, the speaker connection within the unit is broke or disconnected somehow.

I just do not know so I went on-line to see if there any troubleshooting information, and I ended up here on

    I would appreciate any suggestions.

    Thank you for your help,

    Thank you for your response.

I used compressed air to clean out all connectors. The ipod is working fine. I opened up the case and could not find any loose wires, I thought it may be the transformer but the unit LCD display is working and the remote works with any changes being displayed on the LCD display. It may be a circuit board or something I did not considered.

It is to bad it is not something simple because the unit suits a good purpose, It appears I may just have to pitch it. What a waste unless you have a ggod suggestion.

I did not rate your service yet because I choose to respond back and did not know if I would be able to respond back if I gave a rating.

There could be several reasons why there's no sound. Try to isolate the problem.

1. Make sure that the player (iPod or any compatible MP3 player) is properly seated to the speaker dock.

2. Try to use a known working iPod to your iLive IT188B. If same problem occur, then it could be the connection between the player and your dock or it could be the speakers itself. Possible loose wire connection as well.

After trying the first two steps, you may need to contact the manufacturer or any local repair shop to check the speakers or to repair it.

Good luck and have a great day!

Check your RCA connectors, could be faulty.

the point is now on either side. Is your iPod the one not producing sound or your docking unit? to confirm, try to use other speakers on your iPod first, you could use headphones for example and if audio is there, then iPod is OK. now check the IT188B, you could switch to AM/FM radio and see if there is audio out. Since it has worked before like you said, also check the docking bracket, maybe dust is blocking something there.

If the IT188B did not produce any sounds when the ipod is not connected, then the problem is inside there. something must have gone loose(disconnected) though its rear, you should then do some servicing on unit and that would involve opening it.

    Kind regards

Do i need to buy anything extra for my ilive 37' soundbar for my tv? The sound doesnt work with my tv, but the bluetooth works just fine.

You'll need some sort of audio cable to connect the TV's sound or audio output to the soundbar. For the most basic connection, use an RCA-style cable ( like the one found here: ) to connect your TV's audio output to the soundbar's input. Most soundbars also have an SPDIF input ( like the one found here: ) and most modern TV's have an SPDIF output. Get an SPDIF optical digital audio cable to connect the two devices together. Once you've decided which type of connection to use and have connected the TV's audio output the soundbar, then make sure you select the proper input on the soundbar. That should fix your problem.

I bought a new LGPA6500 plasma TV. I already owned an iLive soundbar. Cannot get it to work with this TV. Any suggestions?

If you do not have an audio output on your tv it will not work. To make it work you will need to go from the output of the cable/dish box (audio out).

My ilive speakers IT188b won't play any sound. I'd like to resolder the main audio board, but where is it?!? I got to the insides and pretty much pressed all the connections and they seem in place....

You just want to jump in start soldering without knowing what the cause is???

Do you even KNOW the speaker is the reason? Sources and cables can be the reason.

As always, you should refer to the manual FIRST before coming here. That is where WE will usually start.

For example, there is no troubleshooting section but there is a website mentioned on the last page:

...which leads to SUPPORT (and contact information, should this not help) which leads to

which leads to downloadable manuals

an instructional insert for changing the clock between 12/24 hr time and FAQs, which discuss your symptom.

"Why can I not hear any audio from my iLive docking system?

When an auxiliary line-in cord is inserted into the LINE-IN jack (on the right side of your IT188B) you will not be able to hear what is connected to IN2 (on the back of your IT188B). Both of these input share the same input function of AV2. To play audio from either of these inputs, press the FUNCTION button until AV2 appears on your LCD screen. If both inputs have connections with audio players, the LINE-IN jack will have precedence over the IN2 jack. Make sure to detach the cable connected to LINE-IN before connecting a device to IN2. You will need an auxiliary line-in cable (3.5 mm mini to stereo RCA cable) to connect an iPod shuffle to this system. Also, there is a Volume Limit option in the Settings menu of your iPod. Make sure that this maximum volume is set to a range that will be audible. Be careful when adjusting your volume level. Higher decibel levels at close range may put you at risk for hearing damage."

My ilive speaker bar IT188B will not play through my television...what do I do?

Make sure that your audio in on Ilive unit is going to your tv's audio out. Your tv may have a setup to able the audio out. Refer to your tv's owner's manual. I have to do this on my tv to my Ilve unit.

My iLIVE mod# IT188b will not turn on.... reset button not working either??? this is the second unit I have had(first one did the same thing)but was able to return without reciept...not the case this time!...

This particular unit has issues with bad solder connections on the main audio board which come loose because the woofer speaker vibrates them loose. I've repaired unit myself with a soldering iron.

ILive IT188B - Not a problem, but a question as I have not purchased the unit yet. I am looking to enhance the sound from my Digital TV. The chances of ever using an IPod are slim. My question; can it be...

Yes, absolutely. It has inputs from which you can connect your TV. Its a nice box for the price. The remote SUCKS! Terrible key placement. However, you should be able to program the remote into another universal remote. Although, I have not figured out how to do that yet as ilive does NOT posts discrete IR codes or hex codes for the more advanced programmers.
