Question about Dell XPS M1530 Notebook

1 Answer

My Dell XPS M1530 laptop freezes after using my internet browser for a period of time. This all started when my Trend Micro was updating and never finished. I uninstalled it and now have a newer version. The only change it has made is that I can use my browser but after I let my computer sit without being used it then freezes when I try opening anything. I have been getting a WLAN error but only so often. It doesn't appear after every restart. I know this info might be confusing but I have read that others have had similar problems.

My XPS M1530 completely freezes when I try to open my internet browser. This happens after I stop using my computer for a period of time and then try opening my browser. This forces me to do a hard restart which works only until I stop using it for a bit and then try to open any programs. On restart I occasionally get a WLAN error.

My XPS M1530 will freeze when trying to open any program after I leave it on and not in use for a little while. This forces me to do a hard restart which allows it to work until I again let it be on and not in use for a period of time. Occasionally I will receive a WLAN error even though I have updated it through Dell.

I am not using any type of cooling pad. I did the diagnostics test but it didn't report that there were any problems.

Are you using any type of cooling pad? This problem can happen when the laptop overheats, even if you are letting it sit idle. Another thing you should do is run a diagnostics test and post any problem reports you receive.

My Dell XPS M1530 replaceable battery showing warning sign on the battery icon.

Try to see if there is a BIOS update for your laptop. The last version is A12. That sometimes will fix the problem. If not then it is most likely that the internal charger is built into the motherboard of the laptop is starting to fail. You would have to replace that part or most likely the entire motherboard.

Dell xps m1530 with intel core duo keeps freezing

To further investigate the issue you may do the following.

1.go to control panel --> administrative tools then select event viewer. check on system logs. you might be able to find a clue on why the notebook keeps on freezing after 15 to 20 minutes.

2.please check your virus definitions if its fully updated. If not please update it then do a full scan afterwards.

3. do a windows update on your system if it's not fully updated yet.

4. You may also check or try to remember what has been installed lately. It might be that the application installed have caused vista to freeze.

I have a virus that won't let my computer or antivirus update

Yeah you may have conficker, or another smart virus, try getting to another computer and download Malwarebytes anti-mailware, its free and works good, make sure you update it before trying to use it.

Freezing and crashing - dell xps m1530

contact Customer support first and have them help you diagnose it. If you just bought it, you shouldn't try to do anything too drastic. You might want to back up your files right now though because it might get worse or you might have to send it to Dell and they may send you a completely different laptop. Back up, call Dell.
