Possibly but would not be worth the cost and the fastest processor of the same type would still be extremely slow. I would sugest looking into getting a second hand PC with atleast a 2MHz processor.

Can run windows 8 on IBM intellistation z pro ?

IBM IntelliStation zPro came with different CPU chips through 1997 to 2006. Depending on which year or type your machine is will determine if you can upgrade to Windows8.

The chips used were

IntelliStation Z Pro

Type 6899 (March 1997 to ??)

Type 6865 (October 1998 to April 2000)
Type 6866 (January 2000 to March 2002)
Type 6894 (May 2001 to June 2002)
Type 6221 (November 2002 to February 2005)
  • Dual Intel Xeon at 2.4, 2.67, 2.8 or 3.2 GHz
Type 6223 (August 2004 to March 2007)
  • Dual Intel Xeon with Intel 64 (formerly EM64T) at 3.0, 3.2, 3.4, 3.6 or 3.8 GHz
Type 9228 (June 2006)
  • Dual Intel Xeon Model 5130, 5140, 5150 or 5160
Windows 8 If you want to run Windows 8 on your PC, here's what it takes:
  • Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with support for PAE, NX, and SSE2 (more info)
  • RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)
  • Hard disk space: 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
  • Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver
As you have Type 6223 which a Xeon faster than 1GHz it should work with Windows 8 but not all Xeon processors are compatible depending on which one you have. See this Microsoft site after you check your Xeon chip family on the motherboard or through the Windows system command. Search for xeon.

I need a motherboard manual for a Dell Precision 420 motherboard (Dell p/n 9410W). The system currently has dual slot 1 P3 933 MHz processors. In particular, I would like to know if I can put faster...

Given that you have "Slot 1" sockets, you're already using "fast" 933Mhz CPUs -- you could possibly find a pair of 1000Mhz CPUs, or a pair of "slotket" adapters (Slot 1 on one edge, Socket 370 on one side) and connect a 1100 Mhz Socket 370 CPU to each slotket adapter.

That's a lot of money & work (if you can find the parts) to get a small "boost" from 933 Mhz to 1000 Mhz or to 1100 Mhz.

You might be better-off to add more RAM to your computer, or to buy a brand-new "twice-as-fast" computer.

Old computer ram upgrade without manual

564 mhz means it is a Pentium 3 or equivalent. This also means that the motherboard does not support DDR2 RAM which is exclusively for Socket 775 and Pentium 4 chipsets. Pentium 3 usually support SD-RAM, also but very rarely DDR1 RAM. Sorry but DDR2 will not work in your PC.

That additional RAM will be good for your computer so it will be much faster and don't worry everything should work fine there after adding new RAM to your computer....

No you cant upgrade your processor.
also to change processor is very complicated in a old compaq.
and if you should manage to find a faster processor to your old compaq it not gonna make your laptop faster. the mother board and ram memory are still to old.

I have put a sempron 3.4 processor in but the system only recognises it as 2ghz ?

Your processor speed is actually correct AMD calculate the clock speeds differently from Pentium type processors, a 3400+ is a 2.0 GHZ processor, see the list below for speeds Sempron 2500+ 1.40 GHz 800 MHz 128 KB 754 Sempron 2600+ 1.60 GHz 800 MHz 128 KB 754 Sempron 2800+ 1.60 GHz 800 MHz 256 KB 754 Sempron 3000+ 1.80GHz 800 MHz 128 KB 754 Sempron 3100+ 1.80 GHz 800 MHz 256 KB 754 Sempron 3300+ 2 GHz 800 MHz 256 KB 754 Sempron 3400+ 2 GHz 800 MHz 256 KB 754 Don't worry too much about the proceesor not being recognised as long as you know it is running at the correct speed.
