I don't mind spending the money for the replacement part if I can replace the LCD Panel itself. In fact, I found a reasonably priced replacement LCD panel on eBay through a reputable seller. Would you please provide step-by-step instructions on how I can replace the LCD panel?

You really should start by contacting Mitsubishi, they have been easy to work with on failures that my customers have had in the past.
Just to let you know, they have had some bad LCD panels, and I have been able to work with them and they usually will stand behind their products, make sure when you call to be professional, don't call and be demanding, that won't make any manufacture want to do anything for you.
And yes a few of my failures were out of warranty.

Hi there,

Well sorry to say the problem is dead pixels. There are two causes for dead pixels, One is a defective LCD panel and the other is a poor connection in the cable that connects the display to the chassis. A dead pixel is defined as a pixel or set of sub-pixels that is permanently in the off position and the pixel will not let any light through. Is your TV ever felt down?  This is observed as a dark or black spot. If the problem is a defective display the repair will cost more than to replace the TV. Most manufactures allow a certain number of dead pixels even on a new TV. Please post comments for more help or information.....

Good Luck!!

Thanks

The actual lcd is not repairable. It sounds as if it is damaged. Unfortunately the cost of the lcd is probably more than what the set is worth.

Sorry Sir but your LCD TV got wet... it can be splash with too much water, an animal urinate on the panel, etc....
this kind of black spot is caused when the LCD Panel Terminals got wet, this terminals are located at the lower side of the LCD Panel.

What causes black golf ball size spots to appear on edges of screen? can it be fixed?

the only thing that could cause that is that your monitor is going out and the screen is collecting the humidity in the air

Samsung SyncMaster 913v Monitor

if there are too many black spots already then that means there are lots of dead pixels on your lcd and it cannot be repaired anymore. that will continue to add more dead pixels and eventually damage the device.

Tiny particles of dust on the light engine lens can cause this (and was a service call for me about a month ago), or possibly the expensive light engine.

Red spots

I had red and green spots, and I called the service department at the furniture store where we purchased our 42" TV. They said it needed to be updated, and they picked it up, fixed it, and delivered it back to the house for about $25.00. We had a warranty, so it only cost for coming to the house twice... No more spots!
