Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Printer prints 2-3 pages then stops.

Open the print queue in the system tray and look at the status of the stalled doc. try restarting the doc. If the printing is a large file it could be a memory problem. check device mgr (Ctrl Alt Del) to see memory usage

I saved my microsoft word file and when i opened it again it became an acl file which could not be opened on windows. Help ls.

I am not sure what has happened here. An .ACL file is a list of corrections used by the AutoCorrect feature in Microsoft Office; used for automatically correcting grammar and spelling mistakes. These AutoCorrect lists can be customised within Microsoft Office programs and are not meant to be edited manually.

I can only suggest you search again for the file to see if another copy has the correct .doc or .docx extension.

Whenever I open my microsoft word documents and try to edit it or even start a new document, it says the modification is not allowed because the selection is locked.

An evil virus has set an ACL (Access Control List) list entry prohibiting you from modifying your own documents - or changed the ownership of your documents to another account on the system.

If the computer upon which your documents reside is not yours, consult the system administrator, who may have reset file or directory permissions. If the PC is your personal box - virus/trojan horse/worm/rootkit/malware/spyware residual damage.

To repair ACL damage, use MSDOS command cacls. How:
1) login as "Administrator"
2. START>RUN> cacls
or bring up an MSDOS command prompt (from cmd.exe) and type in cacls /?

Anyway, the problem described above is a OS/System problem.
The only way I can think of that MSWord would prohibit modifying your own docs is that
you recently upgraded MSWord to Office2010, and your docs were created with an old, incompatible version of MSWord - but doesn't Microsoft have backward compatibility for
older .DOC files?

I want to restore my computer back to the factory settings? How?

Whilst starting your computer press the F10 key (might be F12) All keys are listed under the dell logo just after you power on. When the recovery manager menu appears you can restore your PC from the recovery partition on your hard drive. CAUTION: this will delete all your files, so make sure that you back up your doc's etc.

Your PC might have the dell recovery disk creator application installed on it, Click START> PROGRAMS> and look for dell disk creator program. Usually this program will only let you create on set of disks so keep them safe

If you don’t have the recovery manager you can reinstall an operating system manually after first having downloaded your drivers from the dell website and placing them on a CD or DVD.

You can also purchase recovery disks for your computer from Dell thought this can be expensive.

My dell dimension 4600 asks me if I want to open in windows xp upon bootup. Windows xp is the only operating system on my computer. I suspect I have to change a setting somewhere but do not know where....

Hi! You can try this step: Right click on my computer->properties->advance tab, click startup and recovery settings->under startup and recovery settings there is a edit box, click edit then you will see a text doc that refers to the operating system installed.

-you need to delete ONLY the second one that is listed there.highlight the second one and then delete it.save the file and then check if this works
-if this works then you dont have to choose 2 operating system again during startup.

Cannot open some pdf attachments, and cannot open .doc attachments although I have 2007 Microsoft Office with no diagnostic problems. I am using Yahoo browser When I click on attachment and then choose...

just manually delete the temp file from the system like
Just go to tools option in internet properties there you will see general option in that cookies and temporary internet file tab is there just click on it to delete or you can try with this, in run window
Type %temp% and enter you will get temp folder just delete the contain.
later on download the clean up utility or the ccleaner from the net and run this tool to remove all unwanted stuff from the system like temp file cookies and log.

you can download the file from this link,

MS DOS Data File to Be Imported

If you have access and excel you probably have WORD.
When you go to open the .doc file select other or if the list shows word open with that if not "Browse" for word.exe to open the .doc file.

Or open word, select the icon in word for "open", or go to file, open, and select the .doc file to open.
