Question about Welding Tools

Hello there, we have a migatronic 200 single phase, when we press the trigger to operate the machine it just blows the trip straight away, its about 10yrs old, the main on/off/ power switch is very hard to turn too we think due to being stood for a while before we bought it.

Sounds like a short on the switch replace the switch and examine the wireing to and from the swich, get an Electrician to check for earth leakage etc.
make a note of the wires before replacing.

Dewalt radial arm saw GW1- Is it single phase or 3 phase

if the plug on the cord fits any other outlet in the house it will be single phase
if the cord is cut , then it will have only 3 wires if it is single phase
( active , neutral and ground )
if it has 4 or more wires it will be 3 phase
most saws running a 200 mm blade or around that size and used for home duty will be single phase
the phase notation will be on the plate attached to the motor of the saw
It will read voltage , amperage, watts or hp, phase and cycles

Sometimes IR 30 goes into a strained free wheeling state

Did you change the 3 phase motor out with a single phase motor? A 3 phase motor cannot be made to run on single phase.

Change from 480 3 phase to 220 single phase

The way Miller made that one, if you do not have the unit that is made for 200/230/460, you cannot make that change.

The manual section 5 page 12 has the exact procedure, but in a nutshell, (assuming lockout procedures are done) remove the red power lead and tape off/insulate it. L1 and L2- the black and white power input leads are attached to the single phase power, AFTER the ground wire is connected to the ground of the disconnect. The fuse should be a 90 amp regular or a 70 amp time delay. The relinking board should be checked to see if it is on 460 or 200/230. The manual is not entirely clear on this in section 5 page 10, but the relinking should be on the 200/230 connection. It will be located in the lower portion on the right side as you face the front of the machine. On the right side of machine with lower panel removed, if will be just left of center up near the top of that lower opening. . it is held in place with 4 screws- and once moved to the correct position, all 4 screws must be used to secure the board in place.

The manual is availabe at the miller welding website as well.

1993 KD15 series miller delta weld 300 can it be hooked up to 220 single phase

Theoretically yes, but it would be a great deal of work and would draw a little over 6 times the current it did when on three phase power.

It would entail replacing the fan motors, connecting the 6 windings of the 3 phase primary in phase and in parallel. Plus adding a 115 circuit " tapping off half of the 220 single phase" incoming power for some aspects.

The control board would also need modifications as well. because it uses 3 current sense transformers and you would need to rework that circuit to compensate.

The short answer if you were wanting to set one up for home use- just invest in a "Sidekick" They did have a 240 volt single phase version, and if you consider the time invested to change something over that could trip the 200 amp service breaker, if you value your time- the money for a Sidekick would be well worth it.

If you want proof- open up the primary side of the Deltaweld and look at all of those connections you have before you- you would not be using 1/3 of them, and you would need to take the time to make sure the 6 windings were in phase otherise the transformer burns out- it may burn out anyway because the current draw increase beacause all the low impedance windings are now in parallel on a nominally lower voltage- just the potential of fire from that arrangement makes the money spent for a Sidekick to be considered "cheap insurance."

I needed to know the PH for a h600 11344142 Hobart mixer... And is it a single Or 3 face??

Hello Jbabajanov,

I understand that you want to know about the HP (Horse Power) of a H600, 60 quart mixer and weither it is a single or three phase.

All H600 Hobart mixers are equiped with a 2 horse power motor.

As to wether it is single or three phase you will need to look at the service tag of the machine. If is listed on it weather it is single or three phase.

Thank you for choosing FixYa.com

Central pneumatic roofing nailer, where is the nailing ajustments?i should be able to hold the trigger and touch the nose to fire repeatedly but it wont let me.dont see a ajustment?

Not all nailers have the ability to bump-fire. It depends on the type of trigger and the firing valve that the trigger contacts. Remove gun from air supply and remove the nails (for safety). Take a close look at the trigger itself looking for a bump fire setting. It will have a rotary dial to select single or repeat fire. If no setting, look at how the safety foot contacts the trigger's inner trip lever (the trip lever inside the trigger is what actually contacts the firing valve pin). With trigger pressed in, push the safety foot in and notice if the safety contacts the inner trigger lever. On bump fire trigger, the safety foot mech. will push up on the inner lever each time that you press in safety (and you will see that the inner lever will depress the firing pin). On single fire trigger, with trigger pressed, when you push on safety foot, the mech. will not contact inner trigger lever because the lever is too short to allow safety to make contact with it. On single fire triggers, the inner lever can make contact with safety only when trigger is in the resting position. With trigger released, depress safety and notice that safety contacts inner trigger liver and will remain in contact untill you press the trigger at which time the inner lever will depress the firing pin then fall away from safety. If you are a tinker-er, you can make adjustment to inner lever so that it will make constant contact (the rotary dial on triggers that are made to give you a choice of bump or single actually make the inner lever longer or shorter ). If you make any adjustments, make various and numerous tests with-out nails to make sure that it will not fire accidently.

Need to know If I can change machine frome 220 3 phase to 480 3 phase Serial # 2664

Hello msc..... A transformer alone can not change single phase to three phase.
You need two things: A phase converter/VFD to convert your 220 single to 220 three phase. Then a step up transformer to boost the voltage from 220 to 440.....

I have a miller cp 300. It is wired for 3 phase power. I need to hook it up to 230 volt power. How do I do this correctly.

You cannot do this... 3 phase and single phase cannot be inter used... see 3 phase is 440 V AC, single phase is 230 Vots AC. This is unless the unit has Dual capability, in this case the wiring could only be wired to a Single Phase. of the unit. You will need a slow blow breaker of the correct rating and also the cable must be similarly CURRENT rated. If it IS only 3 phase, you can purchase after market single phase to 3 phase converters, that will allow you to plug the 3 phase into a single phase circuit and work, they quite costly though.

please 200- 240 volts is a standard for all and for the breaker is depending of the country if 120 v single phase you will install as usa if 220 v single also you can connect you breaker but the problem is some countries are not 50 hz comfirm the unit is 50/60 hz.
