Try this first: When you say you're turning it off and back on, are you doing just that?? You may want to try the following:

  1. Disconnect the Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable from the back of the product, but leave the product turned on. Also disconnect the phone plug as well.
  2. Open the cover of the product and remove the print cartridges.
  3. Close the cover and wait for the Insert Ink Cartridges message to display.
  4. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product and wait for one minute.
  5. Reconnect the power cord. If the product does not automatically turn on, press the Power button.
  6. Open the cover and reinsert the print cartridges.
  7. Close the cover. If prompted, print a calibration page.
  8. Reconnect the USB cable and the phone cable.
Let us know if that cleared it or not.. if not, if you have an actual ERROR NUMBER, provide that as well.

Fail to initializing

The fail to initialize is typically a problem with the document scanner...but not always. here is a quick test you can try. Turn the unit off then power it on again. Slightly lift the copy lid as the unit goes through warm up mode...pay attention to the light color emitting form the scammer. it starts to blink red, then changes to a bright white IF the scanner is working properly. IF the scanner is NOT working properly the scanner stays RED during the warm up.

Is there a way to hook up my hp lazer jet pro m1212 nf mfp to be able to send a fax utiling my laptop which is by wifi. In other words no land line available.

Without a dial-up line available for your fax machine, the only other way to fax is via the internet if it's supported by your MFP. Google online faxing or fax via internet for solutions you may be able to use in your situation.

HISTORY
Fax or facsimile was invented as a way to take a printed document, scan it into digital form and transmit it to it's destination in a matter of seconds -vs- sending it via an expensive courier taking hours or days. This is before the internet, Adobe and other players made a way to create and send documents via the internet without the need for a fax machine and dedicated phone line. While faxes may still be sent that way when the printed document is the only media available, faxing has died off considerably. Most large companies now have ways implemented to move documents digitally without the need to fax. I predict the fax portion of a MFP to disappear in the not too distant future. Earlier MFP's didn't include a fax feature and one had to but the next model up to get it, now it's included in nearly every MFP. Adobe's PDF format with the ability to fill in the forms fields electronically (as in your US taxes) without having to have expensive office software made printing and faxing a thing of the past. Don't be surprised if the business or other entity requests you, and all of us, to submit a PDF document to their business email address rather than a fax.

Good luck with your quest!

My UF7100 fax machine is saying E04-01 and is not recieving faxes. Can anyone tell me what it means?

The fuser is faulty (it's not reaching the correct temperature) you require a replacement. Unfortunately it's not a 5 minute job to replace.
