I had the same problem. I have an extended warranty on mine and sent it for repair through our local Radio Shack. After a month, I received it back stating the warranty doesn't cover that type of problem. The manager at Radio Shack took it apart and it turned out TomTom only glues the little bracket on that holds that USB port, so he soldered it and now it works fine. Just remember if you try to do this or have someone do this that is not an authorized TomTom repair service center, any warranty you might have will be void.

If its a tomtom one V2 then the only way to charge is via USB . Looks like you need a repair. There are many places to get it repaired other than TomTom but we need to know where in the WORLD you are ? Theres no point in telling you theres a repair shop in Downtown Sidney if you actually live in France .

Usb port on gps system

The plastic tab that holds it in place is probably broken, so it will need to go into the shop to get replaced.

Why does myGarmin 1350 keep losing external power and shutting down, then restart, sometimes losing current destination info, sometimes not.

Major problem with the Nuvi 13xx series as well as the 11xx, 12xx & 14xx series is a loose/broken USB jack in the back which is preventing power from remaining constant into the unit. This will also prevent the internal battery from being charged. We can repair this issue and reinforce the jack. Please see this link for more information:

Please don't do this. If it is a charging port connection problem, you risk damaging the unit. Please see this link for more info on this problem:

Usb port in Tomtom 130 not working properly

It sounds like your mini usb connector is damaged or one of the components near to it. If you're handy you can buy a replacement and solder it in. You will need a very fine tip soldering iron and a magnifying glass. The repair can be quite challenging as the components are surface mounted. If it's a damaged component near the USB connector that is damaged then this wont solve the problem.
I can fix it for you for a small fee if you dont want to attempt repair.
I've repaired about 20 tomtom units with similar problems. I charge around £35 for this including return postage

Broken Mini-USB Port

This is a very common problem on all GPS systems. The USB port comes loose and disconnects from the motherboard. Sometimes we can re-solder it if it did not come off completely. Sometimes the complete board has to be replaced. I do this all the time for my customers. Your unit must be opened and inspected by a competent repair person (like me) to determine what needs to be done.

My Garmin C340 is dead!!!!

I had the same problem on a trip. Required two fixes and once I did this the unit worked fine.
1. Replace the fuse in the car adapter (reason it wasn't charging when I used it in the car).
2. See the users manual on page 31 regarding resetting your C340.

F20 power port connection broken in unit.

I have recently acquired a Navman F20 Satnav with a broken USB port (It was rattling around inside the unit.)

I took apart the case and re-fitted the USB port with no problems at all. Just with a steady hand and a fine tipped soldering iron. I also superglued the port in place to add extra strength.

Put it all back together, and it now charges and connects to the PC exactly as it should.

So, before you throw away a sat nav with this problem, contact me and I can fix it for you, or, alternatively I will offer to buy the broken unit from you.

Loose XM antenna connection for garmin 2730

Try cleaning the end of the antenna with alcohol and a qtip. Also the unit itself. Are you able to hook up usb no problem? If so it is the antenna. It is either dirty or broken.
