When I turn on my Lexmark x2500 the scanner bar moves away and then back to home...then a clicking starts and wont start. I pulled glass out so I could clean it and had to disconnect wires.

Hello, Maybe there is something stuck in the paper feeder roller gear causing it to grind and make that clicking noise.

    Hi,
Well I believe this printer does not have a home position sensor. Which makes me think that the scanner bar is either out of position or damaged.

A got a new comper amd with widows 7 I can't get my Lexmar 2500 Ser # B-02143140771. What am I doing wrong?

It could be a printer driver issue. Try to uninstall any existing Lexmark X2500 driver from your computer first. Go to Start menu > All Programs > Lexmark 2500 Series Printer > Tools > Uninstall. Reboot pc when prompted.
When pc turns on, check if your Windows 7 is running on 32-bit or 64-bit system type. Go to Start menu > right-click on Computer > Properties. Take note of the System Type.

    Use of Scanner

On this model there is a SCAN in black and white or color buttons but you need to have something on the glass to scan. Once it scans it prints!!!

Now lexmark software if installed comes with a program to scan with. you need to check under your prgrams folder under lexmark for the scanning software that was installed with the print driver.

If you open the lid and you do not see the white light chances are your scanner has and needs a bulb inside and at the point to install one of these you might want to concider a new printer.

Please be considerate and leave your feedback and comments and ratings before you leave, Thanks

Does the lexmark x2500 need a special type of ink?

If you go into the office supplies store, there's usually a guidebook for each manufacturer of printer, and what cartridges it takes. Otherwise, you can look on the sides of the packages, and there will be a listing of the makes of printers it will work with. If you hadn't thrown it out, an ink cartridge recycling service would take the cartridge and replace it with a refilled one, with a discount in exchange for the empty.

    System error L1-00

the L1-00 indicate the scanner carriage is not moving. Something is stopping it. Open the document feeder and turn the copier on while watching the scan carriage (beneath the main glass) - does it move or try to move ? does it make a noise?
If it seems to be moving freely for a bit and then stop - is it going back to its "home" position (starting point). Remove the main glass and then move the scan carriage by hand (with the copier turned off) .. does the carriage move ok? check for a loose carriage drive wire or debris or something broken. Make sure the carriage locking screw is not holding it. Then turn the copier back on and see if the carriage makes an attempt to move back to its starting point. if everything seems to be moving ok then the problem could ly with the "home position" sensor. It could also possibly be a bad drive motor.

Open the printer and pull paper. It might come in pieces then shut down printer to reboot it and that should make the symbol go away and youshould be able to start over. At least when I had a problem thats what fixed it. Hope it helps
