The color seems to be out of alignment. Is this an alignment problem or an electronic problem?

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneerthe color seems to be out of alignment - 2_bing.gif Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

hello, machine will need to finish calibration so it will not come back, so if machine failes it could be that the color cartridge is not printing, because this machine uses yellow to calibrate with.

The image seems to bend or convex. The colors are not aligned, red and blue can be aligned but will not merge with green.

This does sound like a convergence problem but the model you listed does not have a convergence circuit.

If you tell me the full model number and brand I can if it is Mitsubishi I have start to finish step by step instructions for this kind of repair in those sets.

To help you more I need the model and brand.

Colors do not match up

Have you tried a few alignments? Also you can try turning the printer on and when you start hearing the alignment turn the printer off ... do this a few times and see if this helps.
Also you can try to manually align the cartridges.. to do this turn the printer off. Open the front cover to reveal the cartridges. On the right hand side you can see some gears. Try to turn one of these slightly.. one click (1mm) should do it. Now turn the printer on and let it align itself

Continually says align print cartridges

My guess is that the color cartridge is either defective or not inserted correctly. I have a 6110 and know that inserting a print cartridge is a little tricky. If it isn't completely inserted and the top latch fastened correctly, the cartridge either won't work or produce errors.

Try reseating the color cartridge so it's inserted in exactly the same way as the black cartridge and run a print job again.

Open the following web page and go to Step three to see the instructions for cleaning the electronic contacts on the cartridge and print carriage.

Ink Cartridge Alignment Fails

Those seem the most likely causes and solutions to me. Good luck.

Please stop where you are! Expert technicians rarely align manually = only when CRT changed or someone tries to
correct an electronic anamoly mechanically........

Color guns out of alignment

It sounds to me like the convergence amps themselves have failed. Ic7001 and Ic7002, both are STK392-110 Sanyo built Ic's and not an expensive job for a qualified shop. When shopping around for a shop to repair it ask what they charge for replacement of the convergence amps in this unit. And take the unit to them to save pickup and delivery charges...
Have a great day!
