I guess the main thing we should consider is how badly you are infected. If all your icons are gone because you're that badly infected then I assume you can't regain internet access. This being the case I can suggest two solutions. 1. Go to your nearest library and download a copy of SDFIX and/or MALWARE BYTES and store these on a flash drive. Then you can clean your computer from this flash drive. 2. If you're babdly infected and cannot use a flash drive then you'll need to slave your present harddrive to an uninfected harddrive. Probably best done by a reputable computer repairperson. Give these a try and hope for the best.

Thanks

Whenever I connect any removable drive automatically 4 shortcuts got created of control panel.

You have a virus on your PC. Unfortunately, once you have this virus, it usually does not help updating your anti virus and running a scan since the virus is running in the memory of the PC and every infected file the anti virus removes - the virus just puts back again. Try one of two things to remove the virus:

1] First update your anti virus (if you dont have an anti virus, download the free AVG Antivirus and install that and then update it. Click here to go to AVG's website. Once installed - Boot your pc into SAFE MODE. This is VERY important otherwise the virus will load into memory and it wont help running the anti virus to clean the system as the memory resident virus will just replace any infected file that is removed by the scan. To boot your PC into safe mode: Read this article: Click here.

Once you are in safe mode - Open the Anti-virus console and do a complete system scan.

2] Remove the infected hard drive from your PC and install it as a secondary drive in a clean, VIRUS PROTECTED PC!!! ... i.e .. any pc that has the latest anti-virus system installed and is up to date!. Once you have installed the infected drive in the protected PC as a secondary drive, run a scan on the infected drive and remove the virus.

Once you have removed the virus, also scan ANY USB devices on that PC, including any Cameras, cellphones, photo frames, etc that you might have plugged into the infected PC.

Good luck

My dell inspiron 1525 notebook keeps shutting down everytime

Scanning computer to eliminate malwares, spywares and the viruses from your laptop.
2- Repairing and cleaning Windows registry.
These two tips are found to be very helpful to fix the laptop shutdown problem. Almost all the computer users surf internet which could result in viruses attacking your system. Some of these infections are really pesky and cause the machines to shutdown randomly.
The registry errors, however, are the internal errors and can become a cause of system crashes and freezes. The registry keys shall be in good health to keep a system perfect.
When I noticed my laptop keeps shutting down everytime, I tested the Intel Software Partner, RegInOut to fix the random shutdown problem with my laptop.

Security adware virus Multiple virus programs (webroot/norton/etc) have been unable to completly remove this virus. I have a Dell Inspiron 520 with Vista 64-bit. Thanks

If MalwareBytes Anti-Malware tool and Avast anti-virus boot scan do not rid your system of the virus, you may have to remove the hard drive from the infected computer and using an adapter, attach it to another computer such as a laptop or another desktop. The adapter attaches to the hard drive and then uses a usb for the interface. They can be bought at computer stores for around 20 bucks. Once you have attached the infected drive, double click on the "My Computer" icon and then right click on the infected drive icon. Scroll down until you see the selection for either "scan with MalwareBytes" or "Scan with Avast". ONce these scans are complete, replace the hard drive back into the original system. Another great scanner is Super AntiSpyware. All these are free downloads at www.filehippo.com

My dell inspiron b130 got infected!! help

Install Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware software as soon as possible

Step 1. Go to Microsoft.com and download Microsoft Security Essentials, save the program to your desktop and install it.

Step 2. Let it run a complete update and run a full scan.

Step 3. Download Spybot Search and Destroy and install it, run an update and a full scan.

Removing viruses can take more than just the two steps I have listed here. If your computer begins to do things that you did not try to do, I suggest taking the machine to your local PC Repair shop.

Don't reformat it just yet. Tell us what OS you are using, and I can try to help.
I will assume you are using WIndows XP or Vista - what you can do, assuming you have kept your PC up-to-date, is try to run the inbuilt Microsoft anti-malware program.
Click Start, Run, type MRT and press Enter or click OK.
You should get the February 2009 version of the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool.
Do a quick scan and see what comes up. If anything is found, reboot and repeat the process doing a full scan (can take several hours).
That should fix and remove the most common virus infections. Let me know how you get on.

If you still need to reformat, you need to use the Dell recovery CDs that came with your laptop. These were a blue recovery/drivers CD and a purple CD for Windows XP sp1 or a green CD for Windows XP sp2. Not sure about other versions of Windows. There is no magic button to reformat with Dell laptops.

System crashed

If it doesn't recognize the hard drive, then the virus did it's job, and you will need a new hard drive. Many of these newer viruses are designed to inflict hardware damage through the use of the installed software, unlike the older viruses, that were designed to damage the software, rendering the computer useless, but no hardware damage. They used to be just annoyances, but now days they are malicious. I don't really understand why these kids have to write these viruses with the malicious intent they have. The internet crimes unit of the FBI have really been cracking down lately. In the future, keep on top of you antivirus with frequent scans, and be prepared to get rid of the virus at the first sign. If you leave it too long it will damage hardware, and now days too long isn't very long at all.
