The fan control in the dashboard no longer turns the fan on at all. For a while, it would work intermittently, but now it's just dead. what is the best place to start troubleshooting this? thanks!

FIrst I would suggest checking the heater fuse. If it is OK, the nexxt thing I would do would to be to tap on the side of the blower motor with a hammer. If the brushes are stuck, some light tapping may loosen the brushes from the armature. If that does not work, remove the wiring connector from the blower motor, and check for voltage. Low should be 3 volts DC, low medium is 6 VDC, High medium is 9 VDC, and high is 12 VDC. If you have no voltage, and the fuse is good, you need a switch.

Phillips 60 in. rear projection approx. 10 years old

This is a common problem with the older models. The opt chip fails. You can get a repair kit at www.magnavoxhelp.com. After a few months of getting smaller and smaller the audio and video will go out but the power light will remain lit.

Unable to turn TV on at all

HAD same problem, TV went click, turned off, dead. Could not reset by unplugging, remote wouldn't work. Suspected power supply related problem. Pulled back cover off (6 screws, 4 along top, 1 in each bottom corner). Pull cover back slowly as there are a few wires that are secured to screen by a plastic retainer - located on left side as viewed from rear. Just untwist the retainer to give you more slack to pull cover back, put wires back later. I replaced the BLOWN FUSE located on circuit board at left rear where the power cord comes in and connects to same circuit board. My local TV parts and service stores would NOT sell the fuse to me, they wanted a service call out of the deal. So, I ordered the fuse online from PARTSTORE.COM out of NY. The fuse is Panasonic Part #XBA2A00101F, is 6.3A @ 125VAC, and costs $1.95. I DO realize that the fuse blew for reasons unkown, but at least I have my TV back until another day.
