Question about HP Compaq nx6310 Notebook
I plug my adaptor into laptop, the power indicator turns on, then it turns off, the laptop starts for a few seconds and then it repets until I unplug the adaptor. No display during this process. What can it be the problem ?
There is short circuit in motherboard if your adater have small led and if LED off when you inseting power jack that means short circuit in dc to dc controller or VRM section on your motherboard

This is only the first of many things you may need to do to determine the fault. But it is a process for determining the exact cause.
Make sure the ac adapter is correctly plugged into the notebook and into the power cord.
everything is plugged in correctly and it still will not power on,
follow these steps to complete a 'power reset' of the notebook.

Dead (ish) Laptop.
Press the power button momentarily to check if it is hibernating or in stand by. If this doesn't work;
Try firstly removing the laptop's
battery as it may be at a critical voltage and the system will not
start because of it. Plug in your ac adaptor and monitor what
happens. Does the power light illuminate? If it does it should then
boot up, if it doesn't, try a known good ac adaptor before going any
If the adaptor is fine and the laptop still won't start, then you may have a mother board fault and should contact a dealer/repairer for further advice.
Hope this helps.
