GE profile refrigerator leaking green and sticky insulation

GE refrigerator I have a 3 yr old. GE profile refrigerator model PDS22MISCC
The unit is leaking what seems to be insulation “green and sticky” similar to great stuff from the lower left corner of the freezer compartment. It’s oozing from the parting line where the outer shell meets the inner shell. I had a service tech come out and he stated that this could not be fixed and the unit needs to be replaced.
During normal use, this area on the outside of the unit is worm to the touch. Is this normal or is this a cooling system problem?
Have you heard of this before?
If so what is causing the problem?
Can it be fixed?
Is this a problem caused by the sealed refrigerating system?
Is it something to be concerned about or should I clean up the goo and forget about it?

SOURCE: Loose freezer door handle

Maytag uses two types of door handle mounts. first look at the bottom side of door handle to see if there are tiny set screws. If there is you might just have to tighten them with an allen wrench. If it doesn't you need to grasp the handle firmly and pull it towards your left, sometimes they can be a little stubburn and require a light wrap with a rubber mallet. This will remove the handle. In this case there will be a clip inside the handle end, check to see if it is bent or if the handle itself is cracked, although I have seen some where the handle mount has become loose and that can be tighted by turning clockwise.

SOURCE: Stops cooling ice melts and leaks water on the floor

That model refrigerator uses the mother control board for deciding when defrost is to take place. It has no defrost timer or Adaptive Defrost Control like other refrigerators. This sounds like *********** board part number WR55X10942 is malfunctioning. The board decides most functions of your refrigerator. Until the board is replace I do not believe the problem will resolve itself. Thanks, Sea Breeze

SOURCE: 15 yr old GE TBX18SA refrigerator. Not cooling.

Remove the screw , on the left side of the control panel , and pull the panel , from the left side , outward to the right . You should now see , slightly to the right , from the middle , a black screw , a hole with slot , and slightly higher to the right , a hole with a white piece , with a hole in it . Now , the hole with the slot , turn with a screwdriver , until you hear/feel a louder click . Turn this slowly . When you hit the right click , the refrig will shut off . Remove the inside rear freezer panel ( and ice maker if equiped ) , by removing 3 or 4 screws , pop off the grill piece , and may have to twist the ice maker receptical slightly , to remove . If you do not see the heater on ( red ) , below the coils , then the heater is most likely the problem . pt # WR51x464 . Your old one , has a glass tube , but the new one , is calrod . I believe 2 screws hold this heater on .. If the glass heater does come on , then the problem is the defrost timer ( the piece you turned with the screwdriver ) which is removed , by removing that black screw and bending the panel out slightly . Pt # WR9X520 .

Should we repair 14 yr old ge profile refrigerator?

depends on what's wrong. if it's not cooling, clean the condenser coils with a vacuum, check the evaporator and condensor fans (easy replacement if necessary. if the compressor is shot or there is a refrigerant leak, say your good-byes.

5 year old ge .No proper cooling on my ge profile pds22miscc the cooling fan is running slowly and the compressor is really hot, when I place a fan there overite it goes back to normal temp settings. how...

The fan bearings are probably gummed up with dirt or solidified lubricant. Unplug the unit and try turning the fan by hand. It should be easy to turn. If it is not check to see whether you can free the bearings with a quick rinse with WD-40. (If the bearings are sealed, you should replace the fan motor.)

Home from vacation--no ice.

Check the fill area of the ice maker for an ice blockage.

- make sure the tube on the back of the Ref. is connected to the white rectangled block of the fill tube.

- check to make sure the water filter in the bottom of the unit was not kicked and has popped out or is not seated / locked in place.

- Check to see if water is actually getting to the unit.. from the 1/4 inch supply line.

If your icemaker is the common one there here is a way to test it:

(I noted GE Profile but not an exact model number)
