Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

I have a Kitchenaid dishwasher. Mod # KUD102CRBS1 which is hardly 2 years old. The door keeps separating from the trim and water seeps out, I fastened the trim, this took care of the problem for ca 6 month, now it is leaking again from the door, has anyone the same problem? I am steaming mad, this was an expensive appliance, which could only clean dishes somewhat with one brand of detergent, all other brands leave a gray film, and now this! MY previous dishwasher was a rel. basic GE but it got the job done and I had it for 10 years without problems. Have there been recalls

This is a fairly common one... I always use a silicone sealant/adhesive to make sure it stays put. A thin film does wonders.

My KitchenAid Dishwasher door won't stay closed. It keeps popping open after a few seconds.

I experienced the same problem after my tension cables broke. The door fell open with such force that it bent the hinges a little. If you've replaced the tension strings (which you should do every 5-8 years) then you don't have to replace the latch. I did and it didn't solve the problem.
Here's the solution:
Put a towel at the bottom of each side of the door by the hinge.
Push the door closed a couple of times to bend back the hinges.
Remove the towels and you're back in action.
Good luck

GE Side by Side Refrigerator seeping water onto door

Hey, thanks for the photos. Have seen this problem before. Seal the recess area, at the front edge and the front corners, with a little clear silicone, to prevent water from getting behind the stainless steel door panel. I've heard people say to seal the rectangular holes along the bottom side of the door panel recess cut out also, but that shouldn't be necessary, as if you still had water behind the panel, it would just then seep down behind the SS door panel and continue to cause problems. The real cure is to keep water from getting in there in the first place.

Dishwasher does not clean dishes and leaves spots on everything!!

You need 2 things. Slightly hotter water and a rinse agent. If you don't heat dry your dishes, crack the door 3 or 4 inches after it's done, to let the steam out.

This sounds like hard water spots.  Use Jet Dri or a similar product to reduce it. Use the recommended amount of detergent.
