Viewsonic VX2255wm - worked this morning - dead this afternoon?

I have a viewsonic VX2255wm. The monitor worked fine this morning. I walked away to have lunch came back an hour later after lunch and it was dead - no picture. I completely disconnected the monitor and just tried to get some response from a power up / power down sequence. The Blue power indicator light comes off and on buit nothing on the screen. Is it time for a new monitor?

More likely to have problem in the power supply section, you need to open it up and look for bad caps first, post back so we can guide you further, see example of failed VIEWSONIC monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

The problem you have sounds like the inverter board has failed it can be repaired by replacing the inverter board which may be a cheaper option than buying a whole new monitor, you can do a search online for lcd repairs and spares to find the part you looking just state your make and model and price one up.

But before you do do that, and you feel confident that you could take the back cover off the monitor, you could have a look for blown capacitors, they are quite a comman fault in lcd monitors, once the back cover is off check the power supply board, it will be where the power cord plugs into the monitor, The capaciters are barrel like in shape with silver tops, check for any leakage from them or on the board surrounding the capacitors, also make sure they are fully flat at the top, if they are slightly domed or pretruded they will need to changed. post back your findings if you do find any bad caps ill will try to explain how to get the right ones and what do to. cheers.

Looking like there is an issue with the powerboard on the monitor. This problem you are having appears to be common with this monitor, with a lot of them failing for no apparent reason

The reason I ask you to hook up the viewsonic directly to the PC is to find out if the problem is in the USB adapter or in the monitor itself, you can also try your Viewsonic with other computer.
Basically just have the PC, VIEWSONIC, NO USB or the monitor. We need to narrow down the problem.

I had the same problem, you must call Viewsonic to change your screen. The DVI input on the screen is dead.

A line of Dead Pixels.

You are right it is a stuck or dead pixel, usually if it is a colred line but not grey it is a stuck pixel at the beginning of the line you can try a utility designed to flash bright colors repetedly over time to see if this will "unstick" it. Also you could have a dry joint on your TCP which would require opening it up to diagnose.
