No fax transmission

After 5 attempts we cannot get a fax to go through. Incomplete transmission, pages sent 0, result NG. Please help.

Plug the phone line into the plug marked L on the back, make sure you are dialing the full number, The fax won't work in an office with digital phone service, you need an analog phone line like at home. In fax setup you need the type of dialing set properly, tone or pulse dialing, check also with Canon support, 1-800-828-4040

If you are not getting any kind a jam indication on your end then it is most likely a phone line noise issue causing the transmission to fail. One thing you can try is turn off the ECM setting on your machine. This stands for error correction mode. If you have your manual you should find it there. ECM is the cause for most failures of the type you are describing.

Discontinue fax transmission report

Press;
  • User Tools/Counter button
  • Facsimile Features
  • Key Operator Tools
  • Parameter setting
  • Select Switch No. 03
  • Select Bit No. 5 for Immediate Transmission and
  • Select Bit No. 0 for Memory Transmission
When the Bit number is pressed, the current value switches between 1 and 0.
Please set these two Bits to 0 to disable printing of transmission result report.
Then press;
  • OK
  • Exit
  • User Tools/counter button

Canon Pixma MX700

I had the same problem. Solution? I will sound stupid, but it worked for me. Check every phone cable. Unplug and replug it. I solved my problem by making my connections simpler. I think, one of my splitter was faulty.

I still not understand why. I tried to fax without any phones plug-on and it was not working neither.

I'm with "videotron.ca" for my phone line and I unplugged the line from the modem too, then replug it. Maybe it was just that!

A lot of people seem to have this problem. I called Canon twice and they made me change some setting in my printer but their solutions was not working. I put all the setting back to what they was and it still working now.

Faxes won't complete transmission

those noises you hear are line noises via your phone line, not machine related but they wreak havoc on faxing. first you need to replace the actual line connecting the fax machine to the wall. If this doesn't fix the problem then have your phone lines tested. also make sure your machine is set for digital or analog service, depending on which you have. Good Luck.
