I HAVE A WRT54G. I AM DROPPING MY WILDBLUE SATELLITE INTERNET SERVICE BECAUSE MY DIAUP IS FASTER AND MUCH CHEAPER. I WANT TO RUN THE NEW PHONE LINE TO A PC WHICH HAS A PHONE MODEM AND AN ETHERNET PORT. CAN I CONNECT MY WRT54G TO THIS PC WHICH HAS DIALUP AND BE ABLE TO USE THE INTERNET OVER MY WIRELESS ROUTER'S SIGNAL WITH THE OTHER COMPUTERS I NOW USE FOR THE INTERNET?

The answer that he gave you is not accurate. In fact you can use your wireless over dial-up. This however takes a little work. You will need to setup internet connection sharing on your desktop with the modem. If you can get the sharing working, then you can use your ethernet card on your PC to transfer the internet back to your wireless router.

This will work, it has been a few years since I have done it, but I used it this way for several years.

No. Wireless routers are only for use with Cable or DSL internet connections.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Internet signal keeps dropping

There's a lot of possiblities here.If you have a DSL/dialtone lineshare, listen for noise on the line(humming, crackling static, dropped calls). If you have a dry loop(DSL only),connect a phone in place of the modem and see if it has an "intercept" message(like "you have tried to call a number out of your service area" or something like that). If it does, you can use a phone to check the line when the DSL drops(don'touforget to put an inline filter on it).If the DSL light doesn't go out when the Internet light does,it is NOT a problem with the physical line. This would be an issue with the modem or the equipment at the serving end.( I am a DSL tech, and spend lots of wasted time diagnosing and trying to fix problems that are beyond my reach(central office server issue) or that I didn't need a dispatch for(it is cheaper to send a new modem than to send a tech).

Went from wildblue internet service to dsl and need to know how reconfigure linksey router

Wildblue is DSL Internet service provider.
You can change the Internet connection settings of Linksys E3000 manually.
Or you can simply reset the router and reconfigure it by running the CD.

We get our internet service through Wildblue satellite. A few months ago we installed a router so that two computers could get online. A month ago our upload usage went WAY above our contracted amount. ...

ring your ISP internet service provider and ask them to provide you with the user name and password that you provided to get the internet
you might have to check your windows firewall settings this may vary on the operating system you are using
click start control panel system and security windows firewall you can block persons not on the list you provide also
scroll to the bottom toolbar (bottom of screen) right click you can select task manager applications also processes you will see whats running on your computer also select users you will see who is using your computer

hope this helps

I have new direct tv installation. now my dsl keeps dropping out. i unplug the direct tv box and everything is ok?

It sounds like they have given you the base DSL service with the minimal speed. If they did, it won't be enough to run two things at one time on the same dsl line. Call AT&T and check your speed or service that was installed and ask if it is enough to run to computers on the same line at once.
Also make sure that there is no filter on your dsl line that goes to your computer.

Here is another tip; the longer the phone line from the wall to your computer, the slower the dsl service. Longer cords slow down your internet.

At&t usbconnect mercury

It is remotely possible but will be very complicated. You will have to leave the computer with the Mercury powered up all the time and use internet connection sharing to provide access to the other computers. But also you will need to reconfigure your router as a dumb switch since your PC will now be the DHCP server. In short it's not easy and not practical - but it is possible.

Need to add Linksys WRT54G-TM wireless router with Linksys SPA 2102 phone adapter

your SPA2102-R seems to have one ethernet connection and one internet connection.
your WRT54G-TM seems to have one internet connection and 4 ethernet connections.

What you are trying to achive is; plug a ethernet cable into the ethernet connection on your SPA2102-R then plug the other end into the internet port of the WRT54G-TM

hope this helps, I have assumed that you intend to use a DSL broadband supplier not ADSL.

if you are changing service from DSL to ADSL then your WRT54G-TM needs to be first in line configured and working. then plug the internet port from the SPA2102-R into any of the WRT54G-TM ethernet ports.
