Opened the back plate up and cleaned out a very dirty coil. Blew it out with compressed air, Much more than I expected. How can I tell if the electric valve is really bad? This has a flipper arm ice level arm ice maker. Where is that set screw located?

There maybe a problem with you water fill valve.you need to check the main pcb board usually located on the rear of the fridge, check your board for any visible signs of damage or discoloration alone the circuits. make sure that all the wiring is connected properly.
this sounds like the valve is staying open to long and over filling you ice tray
also check the ice maker for a set screw that determines the size of ice cubes the unit makes

Overflowes

If the water flows though the inlet then the flow pressure should be good, if not the inlet valve is bad or there is dirt in the filter. Also check the flow at the inlet of the water line. Once the water comes into the system the WATER LEVEL SENSOR - normally a pressure switch- must activate at the preset/chosen level to give the signal to the program controller to switch on the motor. What is most important for the motor to start functioning is that the door switch must be ON when the door is shut or this will be an error for starting the motor for rinse and wash.

Ice cubes stick together as though too much water is coming into tray. Is there a valve or something to control amount of water coming in?

yes their is a water valve , 2 things it could be your valve or you i/m. the i/m tells the water valve to fill for about 6-9 seconds if the icemaker is bad it could be telling it to fill for 10 seconds instead of the normal time and overflow the icemaker ,or the water valve also called solenoid could be bad and at not stopping at the desighned time. i dont have your model # to go much furthur but you can remove the cover in the front of the icemaker and see if you see an icemaker water level adjustment screw, newer ge and frigidaire ref. cannot be adjusted, however wpl, maytag, and older ge ref can be and older frg.try adjusting water level at icemaker first .

Ice maker overflows water during the water fill cycle

is the icemaker level side to side front to back if yes how is the water flow at the disp is it slow? then have you changed the filter in the frig ? No filter and water is still slow coming out follow the waterline from behind the frig follow it to where it hooks up if a saddle valve shut it off all the way use a hand towel to increase tork while shutting down then open it all the way open test the water at the disp again do you have better water flow coming out then the imkr may stop leaking the reason you are checking and testing the above is if you do not have at least 35psi of water pressure the valve will not close fully and overflow the icemaker another test is when you get water from the disp does the water shut down when released or does it continue to run/drip if so the water psi is the cause although useful not always as reliable

Water flowing to the icemaker would not stop. It over flowed the

sounds like the water switch is stuckopen or the valve is. Is the water going to the icemaker or thru the door. If the icemaker is overflowing and doesnt shut off then unplug unit, still coming in change the valve. Not coming in then look at the switch.

I have a whirlpool refg. with built-in ice maker model# ED25DQXDW02. Everytime the frig. goes to fill the tray it fills it then over flows some. Is this a problem I can fix myself.

probably have to replace the icemaker take it out and look at the mold and see if you have some teflon coating that has come of and or some water deposit buildup under im on heater on bottom of icemaker. this causes it to let the water drip down on the back of im an causes iceblock in the dispenser bucker. you can order an icemaker 1- 877-262-1479

Ice maker overflows with water

yes, in fact the icemaker does meter the amount of water delivered to the icemaker, the valve should only be energized for 7 seconds. after that the power is cut off, so if valve continues to let water flow, it's bad (might have debris from water line keeping it open. unserviceable. )
