Surging problem on an alternator

If the voltage varies a lot or the lights change brightness, then the voltage regulator in the alternator is bad. Left unchecked, instrument lights and any other light bulb can burn out including head lights and brake lights. It can fry automatic ac controls, destroy the radio etc. Get your alternator replaced quickly.

Why do the light bulbs blow out every week on my 2010 mercedes sprinter?

Could be a couple of reasons maybe your charging system is to high an output and supplying to much voltage or you are touching the glass of the bulb this leaves an invisible grease from your fingers that causes the bulb to overheat

Had power surge. Tv was on surge protector. Now no power will come on and just makes a buzzing sound.

Have you tried plugging it in without the surge protector? I would wager that either a) the surge protector needs to be reset/turned on and off depending on the model or b) either your TV and/or surge protector have been damaged by the power surge.

Try plugging the TV straight into the outlet and see if that helps.

No temperature digital display in refrigerator, light working, but loosing temperature in fridge & freezer

if its a G.E. make first check the PTC overload on the compressor to make sure compreesor is operating, if this isnt, check voltages on ptc,if no line voltage here, then check for the motherboard in the rear behind a panel as this board when bad will make digital readout go out and lights strobe and you may hear a clicking noise from there also as the lights flicker or strobe this board failure can be caused from a surge within the unit by a light bulb burning out or a power surge from outside too

Car alarm keeps going off when car is left standing battery went flat when lights were left on in car park had a jump start off aa since then ala rm light does not flash and it keeps going off for no...

You may need to have it checked...what may have happened is when the vehicle was jumped started, that a surge was sent through the system. This often happens to the new vehicles since they are sentive to any types of voltage surges. This surge can knock out electronics and cause some ugly things like this to plague you.

Our Keurig keeps kicking off the GFI outlet when turned on. Worked fine yesterday. When the outlet is reset I can hear a click insied the machine. Any help would be great. Thank You Kevin McShera

This is not an exact science. The GFI is trying to trip when it thinks you have a dangerous short. But a powerful device will require a surge when it starts up that is always pretty close to what appears to be a dangerous short. You could switch the GFI out with one rated higher, like 20 amps instead of 15 amps. It would be harder to tell if the Keurig is drawing excessively, because it would only be a transient, for a fraction of a second. You would almost need an oscilloscope to tell what it was doing accurately.
My advice would be to try a surge protector, such as:
http://www.hardwareandtools.com/invt/u720584
The idea being that a surge protector has capacitors in it, to slow down or clip rapid current flow or voltage build up. Which should reduce any eroneous tripping. Basically this one is a plug in version of what you have in the wall, but higher quality and easier to install.

Head light wont work

If this is a xeon type head lamp system it maybe either the burner (bulb) or the assembly (the module that powers the bulb) Check the connector at the bulb to see if there are any signs of a poor connection just make sure the head lamps are off before checking the connector. Very high voltage supplied to bulb and could knock you out!!!

Light Bulb Icon Flashing

Unplug it from power.Pull the side cover to check for burnt smell or burnt spots on your board modem or power supply. Unplug the power suppy from the board, unplug the hard drive . Then plug it all up again , put the cover back on it .Plug power cords back up and try it again. If you get no where after this the surge knocked out your power supply or hard drive or board. Always use a good surge protector on all computers and printer and copiers.
