Lines can come from the drum cartridge, or even the fuser unit. You start a print cycle and stop or unplug the printer while print is partway thru. You remove the drum and see if the lines are already on it before fusing, If the lines are there you need a new drum, if not there you need a new fuser or fuser rollers.

Hi jclaeys

Does the transfer kit include the fuser on this model? If not then it's highly likely that that's the part that needs swapping. I have also seen faulty toner cartridges produce lines so it's worth check that too.

Hope this helps!

Try removing the JetDirect card, then see if the machine will boot and print a test page. If it works without JetDirect, then try replacing the JetDirect card.

How do I replace my HP Color LaserJet 4700 Image Transfer Kit? I don't have the manual for it.

Replace the ETB when a REPLACE TRANSFER KIT message displays on the control panel.
1. Turn the printer off.
2. Open the top and front cover.
3. Lower the ETB by pulling the green handle at the top of the unit downward.
4. Press the small blue latches located on either side of the bottom of the ETB and lift the unit out
of the printer.
5. Install the new ETB.
6. Close the front and top covers.

Hp 4700n laserjet printer. I get black dashes on the right hand side of the page exactly every 1 1/2" every time i print. I've replaced the infuser and the image transfer kit but still get the marks. What...

I would first suspect the black toner cartridge. This is especially true since you have replaced the Fuser and Transfer Units. Most likely you have a pit or other mark on the drum surface so it is printing the mark on the page at regular intervals as the drum rotates. If you have a spare I would swap it out and I'd be willing to bet it goes away.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

My 4700dn is giving me the replace transfer kit message. I have swapped out known good transfer kits and the printer prints fine but I still get the replace transfer kit message. What can I try next?

The message only clears when you install a new transfer unit, one that hasn't been used before. If you want to clear the message, you'll have to install a brand new transfer belt.
If you know the service PIN for the 4700, you can probably go into the service menu and clear the message, but otherwise a new transfer unit is the only way to go.

My 4700 hp printer is double printing and giving a replace transfer kit notice

This means you'll have to replace the transfer kit because it is "end of live". This also causes the printing problems. The transfer unit is the big black unit you'll find when you open the front cover.
