USB Cord...Firewire? I need to know what kind of USB cord i need to connect the printer to my new computer

I don't know which model scanner you have but unless it is really old it should have a USB type B connector (looks like a D) for which you need a Cord with a (flat) USB-A end to plug in the computer and a USB-B to plug into the scanner. Conversely it may also have a 1394 or Firewire plug also which you can use if your computer has a firewire plug. The connection process should be explained when you run the Scanner installation software on the computer.

you don't convert the files, you just downlod them via a firewire comnnection.

If you have a mini dv (cassette) camcorder....
Your dv camcorder needs a firewire connection (ieee 1394) in order to download video, your PC probably did not come with a firewire port, so you will have to buy one and install it, since most computers (except possibly brand new) don't come with a firewire port, your camcorder did not come with a firewire cord so you have to purchase a cord too. Your camcorder did come with a USB cord and that is used for downloading stills from your camcorder. Make sure your camera is in playback mode.
Open your editing program and choose the capture mode.

The fine print in your manual makes reference to firewire (ieee 1394) connection....

Your Z615 printer does not need an internet connection cord to be connected to your laptop. Instead, it uses a USB cable with Type A on one end and Type B on the other.

You apparently have a Firewire (DV) cable.

This type of camera usually downloads better with a Firewire connection. Some mini-DV cameras only use the USB connection (if they have one) for stills and can only download video by Firewire. Yes, your camera should have come with a cord. If not, another device, like your cellphone might have the same cord to use. You can also check Radioshack to see what cord they recommend.

This camcorder model has the firewire port. Please check the manual carefully to find its location.
You need to switch on the camera. Keep it in play/ edit mode. Open movie maker. Its should detect the camera now. If not, try installing the software which came with the camcorder. It might have any drivers.

Try to connect to another computer, and see if it recognizes the drive. If Not, you can dismantle LaCie and take the disk out.

Connecto your disk to another external box (USB or Firewire) so you can have access to you data.
