SOURCE: loss of Bass

Hi there, I would think that you have blown your bass drivers in the speakers. Sometime you may have a fuse which is blown in the speaker but this is not usual. Try on another speaker if you can.

SOURCE: Buzzing bass Amp combo

The problem you have mentioned is a common one with old sets, but it also occurs in new ones also, though not frequent. You can fix this just by changing the electrolytic filter capacitors in the power supply and sub filters on the amp PCB. The new capacitors should be of the same or higher voltage rating and same capacity rating as of the existing ones. And as it is such an old one, it is better to change all the electrolytic capacitors to avoid any further problems.

SOURCE: Toshiba A10 headphone jack problem

I think you are on the right track, if the headphone jack is worn and shorting out itll kill the speakers because it thinks headphones are plgged in, ebay would be a good start for parts, maybe even call toshiba and speak to their tech support.

Dear Sushant,    I do not think your use of an equalizer has caused any problems.  I will explain the proper use of the source/direct button.  This button's function is to monitor the output of a recorder connected to the record outputs of your amp.  When this button is pressed on the sound going to the speakers comes direct from the "source" (cd, radio tuner, phonograph etc.) when in the off position you can monitor the recording of whatever source is being recorded via the tape deck.  This switch must be off to record through the amps record outputs.    To test this, put a blank tape in the tape deck, choose the source as phono and place the dec in record/pause.  With the source direct button pressed on you should hear a change in volume when moving the amp's volume knob only.  When source direct is off you will be able to hear the output of the tape deck, so adjusting the tape deck's record level will also affect the volume coming out of the speakers.  more record level in/ more level out.!    Below is copied from page 9 of your user operation manual for Marantz's explanation of the source/direct button.  image.tiff
best of wishes, Michael Mittelsdorf

While playing, the power cord was accidentally pulled out. When plugged back in, the amp cuts on, but there is no sound and the led lights for peak and tone selection flash.

You have probably blown a tube. This amp has one 12ax7 and one 12au7 in the vintage preamp. You can try replacing the preamp tubes, but it can be quite dangerous if you don't know what you're doing!

Power to my Ampeg BA-115 quit suddenly whilst playing. Back of amp was hot - there was a crackle immediately before it quit. I allowed it to cool down and then turned it on, but it was dead.

Here is your schematic. Likely the fried components are visible.

Scroll down to "get manual" and click to download. IGNORE other download links.

When repairs have been done, start this up using a 100 or 150 watt incandescent lamp in series with the power cord to act as a fuse... There likely are several components blown and you may not get them all the first time. The lamp acts as a resettable current limiting fuse so you don''t blow out what you just replaced.

The CD input on my Ampeg BA 115 works, but the 0db and -15db inputs don't. This happened immediately after using the CD input. Quick fix, or repair shop? Thanks.

Hello,

Sounds like a repair shop job to me. Inputs on a amp have resistance thus there must be a issue inside hence 0DB to 15DB if you go higher well that input thus would not work anymore.

Repair shop would be your best bet for this amplifier. Quick Fix would be unplug it and plug it back in and praying it resets but that won't happen.

hope this was of some help, if not I am sure others will chime in with there 0.2 cents.

Brand New Ampeg Ba 600 210. Only Used durin 2 shows. Sound is awesome. Go to use it this weekend and absolutely no sound at all coming through the speakers. Compression, eq and Everything else working when...

Another person posting on here I suggested opening his unit and he had blown speakers. I think these that are DOA after previous use may be blown during the previous shutdown of the amp driving them and those with built in amps are blown when mixer is powered down putting out a large pulse. Hopefull the amp is blown rather than the speakers... cheaper to repair. Open and check for a fuse, but dont' replace it until you find out the cause of it blowing as additional damage can occur.

NO SOUND

Blown soeaker or amp. Only way to analyze is to open it aand do testing. First plug headphones into the 1/4 inch line output jack and see if anything comes through... it will only be in one ear as the ouptu is not a stereo output... If it comes to there, then the preamp and line driver is working, leaving the speaker and power amp suspect. If nothing ocmes out, I suspect the power SUPPLY might have failed.

SWR WorkingPro 400 watt head - no sound, Preamp Clip red LED is continually lit, Limiter green LED continually lit - fuse is perfect. It worked for a few minutes, then just stopped.

Since the PA clip is not lit, the problem seems to be up front...

First thing is to look for a bad cable as a broken ground could be putting hum at a clipping level. First thing, test this by unplugging all inputs. If the clipping light goes out, then you have bad cables or a ground loop.

Try sending a line level signal into "Effects return" to test if the power amps are OK.

If the clip light is still on, turn all gain controls down to minimum. If light is still on then take unit for servicing.

Theres power but no sound, check the cable connections to the speaker, there might be disturbances during vibration that got the cable disconnected or loose, if connections are fine than most likely you have a defective sound IC, need a technician to Identify the IC for you to replace it and test the item. cheers.
