Trying to find on-line instruction manual for Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 IS USM

    Hi there,
I'm trying to find out if I will damage the lens lock by twisting the lens open rather than clicking the lock off. When taking pictures from the locked rest position quickly I have found that just twisting the zoom lens unlocks it with a click but I am worried that it is not designed to do this and that I will damage it. Any advice much appreciated
    Regards,
    dmerrett

Lenses don't usually need instruction manuals, only specifications. What do you want to know? Maybe i can help answer your questions...

The lock uses pressure to keep the lens locked ay 70mm. By twisting out the zoom you are creating friction, and eventually it might wear out and prevent the lock from functioning properly. Therefore, i would recommend manually turning off the lock rather than having it click off by itself.

It is probably a broken ribbon cable in the lens. It will need to be replaced.

Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM Lens Auto focus motor keep working back and forth but lense is not able to stop on focus right. Had eror 01 also sometime with manual focus.

If your AF motor is hunting then the lens probably needs to be looked at. I wouldn't recommend this as something to do at home so you will need to either find a repair shop if it is out of warranty or return it to Canon if it is in warranty.

Canon EF-S 17-85MM F/4-5.6 IS USM prevents features from working on 40D

something sounds strange about this. aperture 00 is an invalid aperture value. stands to reason if that is the case the camera would complain about it. via error code. being that its only six mos. old i would give canon a ring.

My Canon 40D can't handle bright yellow and reds. It blurs the detail and overly saturates the subject (flower close-ups) - so that the bright red poppy is overly saturated and lacks detail even though...
