Question about Gaggenau ED 220/221 Electric Single Oven

1 Answer

I first had a fault code of F70 on my Gaggenau ED 220 oven so, I cleaned the grease trap and poured a gallon or so of boiling water down the drain. It didn't fix the problem. A couple of days later, I now have a fault code of F72. Any suggestions?

Check out the float switch.either its faulty of got stuck up. clear the float switch by pouring in boiling water to oven (the standard oven flushes through with cold water which does not clear even moderate amounts of grease) check out.keep updated.thanks.

How to clean oven racks

If you mean the straight-in-a-line-parallel-stainless-steel-wire-rod type, we use these methods at home:
General all-round cleaning:
Oven-cleaner spray foam, left to soak to lift grease, then good sponge-down with water-damped cloth / sponge.
Stubborn gunk on racks:
Place racks in empty bath, spray/soak in oven cleaner, or..
pour or squirt engine cleaner / degreaser over entire rack surface, allow to work grease loose, then pour boiling hot water to rinse and dislodge fattiness and carbon.
Ordinary dry washing powder is high in caustic, so also works well.
'Handy-Andy' cream is quite high in ammonia among other unpronounceable chemicals for lifting stuck grease and oils.
Make a stiff, sticky paste of clothes-washing powder and water, then apply to a kitchen 'Zim', ie green scouring pad and mixed with lots of elbow-grease, can restore the racks to former glory.
Rinse well under running water to remove soap.
Otherwise 'bath' the racks in hottest geyser water with washing powder sprinkled on top to soak.
A stiff nylon brush helps to scrub the burnt bits away.

Error code f74

Water pressure switch is staying closed. THe water valve needs to be replaced, or the relay (electrical switch) for it needs to be replaced.

I cant get baked on grease off my smart oven without scratching. Can you suggest a method or product that will help? Gary

This really works well to break down grease. Get a large pot that is ALL Metal! No plastic handles etc. Fill the pot with water and add vinegar. (Two parts water to one part vinegar) Turn the oven as high as it will go and allow the water/vinegar to steam. Keep an eye on the pot as not to boil out all of the water. Repeat as necessary. Hope this helps.

Probably the drain is blocked. The blockage was in my case at the end of the hose. Finally I paid 170,- Euro for the GAGGENAU handcrafter (10 Min.)...

We have an Gaggenau eb 290 oven and the error code F23 shows up - what does this mean? how can we fix it?

F23-relay electronics not selecting. There is either a fault with the pcb or a loss of continuity within the ribbon cable. Unfortunately, I think you are going to need an expert to look at this to confirm.
Sorry I cannot be of more assistance but some faults do require a physical check from a professional and cannot always be sorted out from a distance.
All the best.

My Gaggenau oven shows a F-40 code with the key symbol flashing. Can this be reset in any manner?

I have the same problem and the technician came out and took the oven out. He couldn't figure out was wrong and will need to contact the manufacturer technician to help him with the diagnosis of the problem. In the meantime, he says it looks like my modem is not working and may not be responding to the commands that would normally remove the key lock after a power outage.

Sorry, can't be reset - you'll need to pay the big bucks to have a technician out to assess, make sure you tell him your model number so that he can do his homework prior to coming out, that way you're not paying alot of money that I had to for this tech to figure things out. He took one hour and charged me $120 with no fix and will have to come back anyway.

Error code F 20 on Gaggenau EB 260/262 oven

Sometimes the error light will come on because of mixed signals sent. If everything works, then just ignore it. Unplug the oven or turn power off in fuse box. This may reset the light control. Be very careful around the power source. Wear rubber bottom shoes, have dry hands and floor. Don't touch exposed wires with anything. This is 240 volts that can hurt or kill you!!!!!!

Gaggenau Ed 220/221 Error Code F 70

I had the same fault F70. Poured several liters boiling water no result. I decided to take the oven out the kitchen and put on the table. Be carefull, its edges are sharp. You need to disconnect water supply, first close the tap, then remove the water pipe from the oven by hand. Remove also the drain pipe from the sewage connection. You cannot detach it from the oven. Unplug power supply. Then start unscrewing the top panel. Once removed you can unscrew also the side panel left side (by looking at the oven from the front door side) and finally remove the back panel. You will need a special screw driver as the screws are star type.
I found out that there was some little water on the bottom panel of the oven. There is a safety sensor which is in contact with the bottom panel on the left side of the oven near the electronic board.
If this get wet, the faul code F70 appears.
Also some water was in the hole of the level sensor in the pump chamber next to the other sensor (white plastic box)
So dry all the water with the help of kitchen paper and finally with hair dryer.
Put back all teh parts and voila', it works again.
