There will be 2 convergence ICs that you can access from the front. take the grill off in front(screws behind door and on side in back of tv)and take the panel off. then the board right in the front with the black heat sinks is the convergence power board. take the board out or position it comfortably and replace the 2 large ICs(stk392-110) and any burnt resistors you can see. after fininshed check alignment in the regular tv menu.

Hi,Yes your problem sounds like the DMD board. This is how it works: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp1.htm Basically the light of the lamp goes through a tunnel that carries a color wheel(rotating disc with a gamma of colors that creates the colors on your tv)then the light of the lamp goes through the DMD board which is a chip composed of around 2 million pixels that creates the images and colors. When it starts to fail it will create black bars, pixelation, color distortion or white dots on screens. Here's a video that will help you find where the DMd chip is located : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jr_9A5Xd2Q Have a blessed one!

I bought this tv 6 years ago, it was manufactured in 7/2003. I just started experiencing a double image problem, and the color is a little bit off. Is it worth getting fixed?

It sounds like the fluid in the projectors has possibly degraded. Sometimes there are settings you can use to adjust your T.V. If that doen's work, then it costs about $700 or so to replace the fluid in the projection tubes.

Screen goes to black with a ghosting of the last moving image.

This is bad real bad, when this happens it means a board known as the DMD board is failing and must be replaced, the board can run about $650.00 to get it and have it instaled

Blue and Yellow doubles

Well, fortunately the television that you purchased has an auto-convergence feature. What is happenning is that your color lamps are misaligned, did it get moved at all recently? Anyway, in your menu you should see a "Convergence" menu, and inside that menu, a section called "Perfect Focus". Run Perfect Focus in this sequence: Green --> Red --> Blue After that your picture should look great, if not try tinkering with the manual adjustments on the "Convergence" menu.
