Question about Yamaha Music

My Yamaha psr 275 keyboard has no sound and the display fails to illuminate. I have checked the connection to the mains pin as this is a weak spot but that is in order. What should I look at next ?

I assume by "checking the connection" that you ALSO checked that the adapter is generating the CORRECT voltage? If not, that is the first thing to check. They fail often...

Assuming the adapter is working, I would suspect that the input power connector has broken or the solder is bad or the board may have a crack in that area. In which case, removing the cover to check will be required. Care must be taken with cables when doing so.

Power problems are some of the easiest to find.

I need a manual for a psr-275 Yamaha keyboard. Can you help me, please.

The owner's manual for the Portatone PSR-275 is available from Yamaha on the product page: http://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical-instruments/keyboards/digitalkeyboards/portable_keyboards/psr-275/ . Click on the Suppport tab and look at the Downloads section. The English version is right there. For the manual in other languages, click on the More Downloads link and scroll down from the search box area. The links are done in Javascript so you'll need a modern browser to resolve them. The direct link to the User's Manual (in English) that came up today in my browser is http://download.yamaha.com/api/asset/file/?language=en&site=usa.yamaha.com&asset_id=3111 . This is a PDF file so you will need Adobe Reader or a similar program to read or print the manual.

I hope this helps.

Repairing Yamaha psr-12

If the power adapter is not the original adappter- check to make sure the polarity is correct- it should be marked on the keyboard near the adapter socket, and also on the adapter itself.

The keyboard should have an internal fuse- check that. Then with keyboard open, if the fuse is okay, trace the power flow from the power pack and look for broken wires, bad solder connections, stressed components like bulging capacitors, etc. It may have a burned out zener diode in the power supply regulator portion of the main circuit.

Psr-s500; no display at all but everything else is working properly.

Read your manual about a contrast control for the display. At one end of the range of control the display is almost invisible. Sometimes there is a little shaft/knob on the back, other times it is a menu item and yes, it is hard to see the display to adjust the display... just go through the procedure blindly to see if it comes back. Also illuminate the display if dark with a flashlight and see if there are display characters there but just lacking a backlight. A backlight failure could be the problem.

I require a user manual for a Yamaha PSR 6000 Organ to down load

Yamaha has the user's guides available as PDFs for most of their instruments on their site: http://download.yamaha.com/top/?site=usa.yamaha.com&language=en . Enter PSR-6000 or select Pianos & Keyboards > Portable Keyboards > PSR-6000 and then press Select.

The link to the manual will display below the search area.

I hope this helps.

I'VE A YAMAHA PSR S700. The problem is with it's screen. Whenever i start playing, the screen fades and then it comes and it goes and vice versa. This occurs almost two - three days a week. There...

Likely a connection to the backlight is being broken. Tap on the unoit and see if it pops back on. Illuminate screen with a flashlight and see if the characters can be seen when screen is faded. If they can, then the backlight is the problem... IF NOT then the display may be bad... This has been a problem and if you are under warranty, excersise it immediately... else replacement of the display is relatively expensive.

Hi My yamaha PSR S500 keyboard is not turning on! I bought a new adaptor but it still wont come on

Check that your adapter is a 12VDC with a current rating of at least 1 amp (1000ma) AND that the center pin of the connector is the POSITIVE.

Some of the keys in my Yamaha PSR-275 are not working.

Well, you have to open the unit up and check the switches related to the keys with the issue. Probably a job for a repair shop.
