Question about Canon EOS-5D 12.8 Megapixel SLR Digital Camera w/ EF 24-70mm Zoom Telephoto EF 70-200mm f/ Autofocus L

1 Answer

My Canon EOS-5D 12.8 Megapixel SLR Digital Camera gives me many shots during a shoot with areas in the picture of different colors, like stripes running thru the whole image, usually one color. They run horizontal or vertical. Also at times the picture looks to be jumbled like parts of a puzzle in the wrong area. What is happening?

Shoot on manual with a low shutter speed and mount the camera on a tripod or sturdy surface. if you don't have a shutter release use the self-timer and don't touch the camera during the exposure.

Make sure you have your flash & timing set where it is supposed to be, usually between 120 & 180. This is the shutter timing and flash duration. It is the syncronizing speed setting. If possible, turn off the automatic review, this slows things up. Also, if possible, use a power cord for the flash instead of batteries. Not all have this feature but, the flash is ready for the next shot in about 1 second.

With fully charged battery 5D has power but will not take shots

This sounds like your release switch is faulty. I have repaired several of these 5D cameras with similar strange symptoms. Basically what happens is the first switch on you release assembly cracks and breaks thus making continuous contact. When this happens it basically locks up your camera. The solution is to replace the release switch assembly. The repair should not cost you more than $150.
Hope this helps.

I have a Canon 5D and a 430EX flash. When shooting pictures my flash will delay way to long before I can shoot another picture with flash. One picture is good and 3 are dark. My flash card is a...

The 430ex flash is E-TTL, that means it adapts is power to the scene. If you shoot a scene at 10 meters, the flash will choose to flash at the max power, and will take time to recharg. Try to get closer to your subject, and remember that the flash can only lighting your subject, not the whole scene.

Canon 5D won't turn on

Response from Guest posted on Apr. 01, 2008

Sent and received my Cannon EOS-5D from Canon and they replaced the power supply assembly. It had shorted out. They did not tell me why it shorted out so I'm left with the question of what is/are the event(s) that caused the power assembly to short out. I don't have a warm and fuzzy feeling that the problem has been fixed.

Help with Canon EOS 5D camera

when you use the full auto mode, the body take jpeg images in sRGB mode. And it create a different folder for those, but perhaps your computer is tune to get THIS folder. So when you leave the full auto mode, the 5D create a second folder for new images. Try to open directly the 5d volume on your computer (in windows, configuration panel, on a mac, it mount automatically on desktop) and go into DCIM folder. see? there is two folders, aleluia.

The camera has no built in memory, like all DSLR's. If you shot pictures without a card, the pictures were not saved.
