How to switch from analog to digital mode

Any contemporary monitor is able to switch analog/digital mode automatically if connection from signal source to monitor is set up properly.

Connect digital output from your graphic card to DVI input of the monitor. Disconnect any other signal cables from monitor and switch on both devices (PC & monitor). Wait a while. Monitor checks its inputs and a activates digital DVI, because it is only one active input on it.

If none picture excluding error message of monitor is displayed, go through these steps:
1) Check whether your monitor is set for automatic input selection. If monitor buttons have no response try to use analog input to activate screen (any picture, desktop background...) and then get monitor menu access by pressing menu button.

2) Find out what connector type has your graphics card in PC. Possibilities are: DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort and some their options. See Wikipedia for connector look if you are not sure.
Remember that blue D-SUB (VGA) connectors are analogue and you cannot activate digital mode through analog VGA cable.

3) Use appropriate cable to connect monitor to PC.
Example: Your PC has HDMI output. Use HDMi-to-DVI cable. Your monitor input is DVI and common DVI-DVI cable is not suitable in case you have PC with the HDMI.
Note that DVI-to-DVI, DisplayPort-to-DVI etc. cables are available. You must buy right one.

Be aware that "Auto" button is inactive in digital mode of monitor.

Monitor stopped working - says No signal

Hi Paul,

This problem is often the result of a loose video cable connection on the computer or an incorrect video signal selection. Most monitors use a cable with "VGA" connector on the end that mates to the computer video port. Other modern computers make use of an HDMI (like the ones used to connect a TV to a BluRay Disk player) or DVI connector instead - either way if it is loose you will get the same "No Signal" message on screen. Make sure these connectors are making good contact with the port on the computer by seating them fully (or better yet - remove and reinsert). In the case of the VGA connector, most have two screws to hold them in the port - you should make sure both are threaded all the way in. You do not need to crank them down, finger-tight is more than enough.

Many newer - flat screen types in particular - do not have the video cable permanently attached. Instead, they use the same cord and connector arrangement found on the computer. It is possible that the connector has become loosened on the monitor end - especially if the monitor is moved / adjusted frequently. You should check the connections at the rear of the monitor just as you checked at the computer, too.

When satisfied that the connections at the computer and monitor are good, check the monitor again. If the message is still present, the monitor may be able to select between an analog input and a digital input via a menu item accessible from the monitor. Check your monitor manual for instructions to change inputs if unsure. If you are using the "standard VGA cable" (the one with the two screws) you should select the analog input. If you're using an HDMI cable, you should select the digital input. If you're using an DVI connector the input may be either analog or digital. When making a change, wait 5 to 10 seconds between toggling between the analog / digital selections to allow the monitor to sync the signal for proper display.

If you're still unable to display the desktop, it is possible that that someone has changed the BIOS options to select a different video card (if more than one is installed) or that the cable is defective.

I hope this helps and good luck!

Screen says check signal cable - have check my cables....

Not really...

First check if the cable connected from the monitor is secured and properly connected to the video card of the CPU.

"Check signal cable" will only be display if there is no signal coming from the CPU.. that signal Passes through the video card..

Check the status of your video card.....and see also if the CPU is working and not dead set.

Hope this help...
Much appreciated if you rate this help.. thanks

Screen flashing, message NO SIGNAL

This means it is not getting any signal from you computer. Check all connection on both the monitor and the computer to insure they are tight. Some monitors have both a analog and digital input, if this is the case on your monitor there is usually a button on the monitor that will allow you to switch between the two, usually has an arrow pointing to a box.

After starting the computer the screen is black and only displays digital analog on screen and the blue light is flashing. It then displays a box say "check signal digital analog." please help me. Thanx.

This blue light flashing means there is power to monitor bu NO video signal. No Analog or digital Video . analog is the regular plug for PC to Monitor, the other is HDMI digital or other digital. Check signal digital/analog means again: No video signal from PC detected.

Computer monitor comes on for 1 seconds, flashes "analog power save mode" and then goes black.

Most monitors will say "Power save mode" when they can tell through residual voltage that the signal lead is plugged into a machine, but there's no picture being transmitted. The four states of a monitor are:

* Off entirely.
* Switched on, plugged into a computer but no video signal being received - usually displays "analog power save mode" or "digital power save mode" for a few seconds, then blanks. Comes back to life the moment a video signal is received. This state is the default in full power saving mode.
* Switched on, not plugged into a computer. Some monitors don't display anything, some go into power saving mode, some fly "CHECK SIGNAL CABLE" or a similar message around the screen. Picture is restored when the signal cable is plugged back into the computer
* On fully, receiving an image, and displaying.

Hope this helps.

No digital signal but analog works fine

Seems like this was already answered? But once you've checked against the owner's manual and ruled out the PC, I would suspect the signal / video board inside the monitor. May have gotten a surge or static, etc.
