This can be done by pressing and holding the button on the side of the device. This will cause the device to send out a signal that will be received by the laptop computer.
Select your device from the list of found devices on your laptop. Once this is done, your laptop and Bluetooth device will be permanently connected as long as they are both turned on.

Do i need to install the d-link wbr-1310 to my new laptop to get it operational. it indicates that there is a wireless connection but is requesting additional information.

I think you have windows vista on your computer. When you try to connect to the wireless network it will ask you for additional log on information. I believe you wireless network is secured. You don't need to install the router on your wireless laptop. All you need to do is connect to the wireless network. First check the wireless settings of the router. Once you get the wireless settings on the router, add the wireless network manually.

How do I protect my connection from unauthorized access.

Hello, David.

The best way to protect your wireless access from unauthorized access is to add a password.

Without a password, if someone drives by your home with a laptop, etc. and sees your network, they can connect.

If you are uncertain about how to add a password, contact your provider.

Hope this helps.
