SOURCE: Canon Powershot A430 horizontal lines problem

have opened my camera. (it was useless anyway, right?) GUess what I found: in the lens-assembly there is a ribbon cable that controls the two solenoids, one of the shutter, one of the diafragm (or what it's called). This one is broken, the electric circuits are discontinued and so there is no control. It seems to be a design error since it broke exactly where the ribbon bends at 180 degrees almost with no place for a loop most of the focussing time. Can anyone find out where to find a NEW replacement ribbon cable? 847a466.jpg

Oh my goodness, don't disassemble and don't go banging your A95's up for this problem. Sorry I missed this post when you first submitted it.

This sounds like it might a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should FIX THIS FOR YOU FOR FREE, including FREE SHIPPING both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

SOURCE: Photo card locked and can not take pictures.

There should be a tiny slide switch on the side of the card. Merely slide this switch to the other "unlocked" position.

Display mode not working for Canon SD850i

Sounds like the switch got loose that you use to go from camera mode to playback mode. It is an easy fix, all you would need to do is remove the side screws, and then lift up the back casing, and then place it back on making sure the part that you move externally on the camera is properly aligned over the switch that is internal. If you don't feel comfortable opening the camera yourself you could take it to a professional, it should take them less than 10 minutes.

Pictures are a mass of horizontal lines.

the flex wire of the shutter is open already and the shutter is not closing when you take a picture and is overload thats why a horizontal lines appear when you take a picture..it need to be service your camera now...do not attempt to open the lens assembly cause it is too difficult to fix the flex wire of the shutter if you are not a technician...

Powershot S1 IS trouble shooting in images of lcd monitor

Try playing back pictures you know were captured properly ( either with another properly working camera or with your camera before the problem with quality has appeared ). If the image is ok in playback but 'noisy' in capture mode then the CCD sensor is faulty /on its way out. Ask Canon if they repair CCD faults on this model free of charge.
