Windows 7 is not supported by intel for the DG965RY motherboard. So, they have not released any drivers for it. You may, however, try the vista 32 bit drivers, since the windows 7 core is not very different from that of vista.

The drivers for vista can be downloaded fromhttp://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchRe...

I’m not very clear with the scenario you described. Generally, the operation of downloading file to local hard disk (unless running some downloaded executable files) should not change the system configurations such as the audio device drivers. Therefore, I suspect that this issue should not be directly caused by the download operation.

Also, if the driver for audio controller is missing, you may use the disk shipped with the audio card or motherboard to reinstall it. Alternatively, you can also visit the manufacturer’s website, download the latest driver designed for your currently used operating system, and then install it.

If I the methods above donn’t fix your issue, please let me know the following:

1. What operating system are you currently using?

Note: If you are using Windows XP and this problem is not related to Windows Vista, please visit forums focusing on Windows XP for further support:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/related/default.mspx

2. Did this audio card work well before?
3. Where did you download Windows XP? How did you know it deletes the audio driver? Were there any other changes or operations before the issue began to occur?
4. Please let me know the brand and model of your audio card or the motherboard.

Thanks!

Sincerely,
Sanjeev Kumar,

I hav downloaded intel dg31pr audio driver for windows xp but while installing it appeard as "this driver version is older than the system one". please solve my problem...,,,

Well mahatab9, you have not told us if there is any audio driver installed on your computer or not. But the error message clearly stated that, you have an audio driver already installed for your motherboard model. So, if the driver is not properly working or you just want to upgrade it, you should use Intel Auto Driver Updater for best result. This will show if there is any updated version of your installed drivers are available or not. To do this, click on the following link to automatically identify and update your drivers and softwares.
Automatically Update your Driver
Now click on "Check Your System for Latest Updates" to start analyzing your computer. This will show whether your system requires an upgrade or not.
IMPORTANT: This utility is for Intel Motherboards only.
But still, if this utility doesn't show any upgrade to your audio driver, then you can manually download this driver as your motherboard INTEL DG31PR supports the Realtek HD Audio driver only for best response. If you have already installed any other audio driver than Realtek, please uninstall that and install this one. To download this, click on this following link:
Download latest Realtek HD Audio Driver
This installation will remove any previous version of Realtek and install the newest one automatically.
Hope this helps, Regards,

I cannot install, from ASUS Motherboard CD, Audio driver after upgrading system from WinXP to Win7 Ultimate.

After upgrading the Operating System from XP to Windows 7, you can not use the Drivers CD for XP. Click here to visit ASUS Official site and follow these steps to download the Audio Drivers for Windows 7: -

1. Select Product - Motherboard
2. Select Series - (Select Socket depending upon your motherboard model - Socket can be known by searching google for motherboard model)
3. Select Model -
and click search, it would ask you for operating system
4. Select operating system and download drivers

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

Good Luck!
Dont forget to appreciate the solution if I could have been of any help!

My computer is vista but upgraded to windows seven and the built in sound card does not seem to work i have tried different devices and updating the drivers i even changed the sound card none of them seem...

if even the Windows 7 driver for the sound card did not fix it, try to uninstall the audio driver, then let Windows try to detect and install a native driver if available. Then click START, type services.msc in the Search box, then click Services.msc from the results. From there, look for the Windows Audio service, double-click it and make sure the Startup Type is set to Automatic and click the Start button. Restart the computer, open the audio properties, make sure the correct Playback device is selected. If you are using internal speakers for a laptop or external speakers for desktops, select Speakers/Headphones, click Set Default. Then test the audio of your system. Hope this helps.

Could not find media device

Updating audio drivers Select one of the options below to locate the available audio drivers if you already changed the operating system and you are experiencing sound problems.
  • Go to the HP Drivers and Downloads page and search for updated drivers for your model. Be sure to select the correct operating system.
Or download Conexant High-Definition Audio Driver » ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp40501-41000/sp40762.exe
  • If the computer is upgraded to Vista, use HP Update to scan for updated drivers. To use HP Update, click Start , All Programs , HP , HP Update , and then follow the on-screen instructions.
  • If HP has not released specific audio drivers for your operating system, use the Microsoft Windows Update utility, or search the Microsoft web site for generic drivers for Vista. To use Windows Update, click Start , type update into the search field, select Windows Update from the list when it becomes available, click Check for updates , and then install any available updates.
