Hi There.
If you can not open attached documents it might be because programs are missing on your computer.
As an example:
for a file xxx.PDF you need a PDF reader installed eg. Adobe Reader.
Can be found here: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/
Download Adobe Reader and install it and you can read PDF files.
If the document is a Microsoft Office document you nee the whole Microsoft Office Package - but this package is not free - must by it.
As an alternative to the Microsoft program you can use Open Office.
Can be found here: www.openoffice.org
This program is compatible to Microsoft Office and it is free to use.
PDF is Portable Document Format from Adobe Acrobat
It is better to use Acrobat Reader. However, if you want to use PS for pdf files right click any pdf file and choose 'open with' - If 'Open with' command is not there right click holding shift key - then choose photoshop and check "use this program as default"
Letter head on Plain Paper Step1: Open a
Microsoft Word Document File
Usually
word creates a new document when the program is opened.
Step 2: Inserting
Header and Footer in Word Document Click onviewand thenHeader and Footer.
Step 3: In a Microsoft Word document, choose Insert
> Picture > From File…After selecting file, it will give you a
browse file option, where you have to specify the location of the logo file you
have created with desired resolution and size.
Step 5: Control-click on the placed image and choose
Format Picture from the pop-up menu. Step 6: Inserting text into the Header and Footer To
insert text into your letterhead, simply select the font style and size of the
text you require, then enter the text into the header and footer box.
What program did you use to open the PDF? If you opened it with the default program, you probably used Adobe Reader which does not allow you to edit PDFs. You can import PDFs into several Office suites with add-ons. For example, Open Office 3 has a PDF add-on that lets the PDF be opened and modified in Draw and Impress. There are also online PDF editors and some low cost alternatives to Adobe Acrobat is the full program that makes PDFs. PDFill PDF Editor gets some good reviews http://download.cnet.com/PDFill-PDF-Editor/3000-6675_4-10295757.html as does www.pdfescape.com/ (an on-line option). Please note that most will put their logo on your document as a footer or somewhere unless you use a paid version.
I hope this helps.
Cindy Wells (word does the PDF import more easily as I recall (possibly with an add-on) but there are alternatives.)
try using adobe reader to convert your files to pdf..u can also try cutepdf or if your using ms office 2007 download addons pdf and xps program at microsoft...hope this helps..
It depends a little on the content of the PDF. Since you are copying it into excel, I will assume that this is text.
1) Open the PDF in Adobe or other pdf reader.
2) Copy the section of the PDF you wish to convert using the select tool. (if you need help with this > http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Reader/8.0/WS58a04a822e3e50102bd615109794195ff-7ee5.html )
3) Open Excel (or in my case Open Office Calc) and paste the selction.
The manual that you have most likely requires Adobe Acrobat Reader. Most manuals are published as .PDF which is the Adobe format. Office will open .DOC .XLS .PPT. Try to goto www.adobe.com and download their free Adobe Reader, then try to open the manual again.
Do you have microsoft office. if so, There's a little used program in the directory on your start/programs/microsoft/microsoft office tools called Microsoft office document and microsoft office scanning. Also, what software came with the printer/scanner. there's usualy a decent one bundled with them. if possible you may be able to scan to pdf. (pdf reader free from adobe)
--- Markbaker, as long as the scanner is installed correctly, then, again, in office or similar programs there should be an option to insert from scanner. click on that and it should bring up the scanner software to complete scan.
