Dell inspiron. "unidentified network" problem

I have a dell inspioron 1501. suddenly just stopped connecting to internet. says "unidentified network" or "local access only". have tried it in my girlfriends house and college and same problem, so its a problem with the laptop and not the internet. I have tried connecting it directly with dsl and still wont work, also tried deleting internet settings and adding the wireless network again.

any ideas how to fix this?

Try disabling firewall software that must be preventing access to network. disable and reenable the lan card might also help

Don't forget to use an ESD wrist strap, and have it's alligator clip attached to a good ground source.
Use a multi-compartment container for the various screws you will remove.

Label each compartment for the area the screw/s come out of.
SOME screws look VERY similar to other screws. DO NOT mix them up.

Dell inspiron will not connect to any internet

Sounds like perhaps you have a winsock error.

Hope that helps you. Just FYI, a corrupted WINSOCK issue is usually the result of a virus or spyware corruption.

Since your computer must be a preinstalled computer. I suggest you to reinstall your system. Also, sometimes vista sometimes does not have very stable network. Good luck!

Hi i need help with my dell laptop

If the computer came with the restore "Partition" instead of disks, you can re-set it to the original factory settings. When the computer starts and you see the DELL logo press the CTRL key and the F11 key at the same time, then follow the prompts.
