I have a PX200 It has been sat in a cupboard for a couple of years, I have tried to use it, however the under side of the stitching is just totally clogging up, any ideas as to what I should do? or will it need a full service?

One of the first things to do will be to make sure that your thread and bobbin are clean. Then be sure to clean out the working of the bobbin and the underside of the machine is clear of dust. a small brush works for this, or what I just love for this is canned air for cleaning computer keyboards. After you do all this remove the bobbin and hand clean the thread cahnel. Good luck and let me know how you do.

There is a upper thread tension adjuster. Loosen the upper thread tension and you would find the lower thread getting less and less clogged till it is fully in sync with the upper one. But due to the fact that the machine has been sitting idle for years, a complete service is called for.

Feed dogs do not drop for darn Bernina 831

Old oil has dried and is causing parts to seize. Feed dogs are a frequent indicator of this condition. Stitch selectors also tend to be affected. Eventually, the needlebar will seize and the machine will totally stop.

How do I get a balanced tension with my Elna 624 overlocker?

The best way is to thread with 4 separate colors of thread and then studying the stitch result. With the 4 colors, you can easily tell which thread tension is "off" and whether it should be tightened or loosened. However, a serger is not like a sewing machine where you can set the tension and use that setting for most projects. With a serger, a change in one or a couple of thread tensions will create a totally different stitch.

For most machines, there is a mark at the midway point on each tension control that is the "optimal" tension for a 4-thread overlock. HOWEVER, every machine differs, so these settings may need to be tweaked.

You may want to download the serger workbooks at this site (Bernina), and work through each of the stitches. Make notes in the workbook as to how you have set up your machine to get the best of each stitch. This will be a great reference manual for many years.

How to embroider with elna su electronic

There are a couple of Elna SU models, the Star Series SU is white with a blue top panel. Or the air electronic SU is a white machine and a dozen years newer (80's). Both have a disc elnagraph reader in a flap on top of the machine and sew a range of stitches involving either side to side stitch formation or side to side and forwards and backwards, albiet revolutionary when new but not what modern computerised embroidery machines can produce now. To use, you set stitch width and length dials to zero, then insert the black disc into the elnagraph ensuring you line up the disc with a little finger underneath. There should be a red marking on the disc and the shaft to assist with this. Press down until the disc clicks into place. Now turn stitch length to S for supermatic and width to 4 and sew. You can vary the stitch width to adjust stitch and the AE also has a little dial that elongates or closes up the stitch. Try machine embroidery thread for a silky stitch especially with satin stitch where the thread is close together. Also wing needles can be interesting when using the turkish hem stitch disc.

try putting some fabric under the foot, lowering the pressure foot and making a couple of stitches, they should come back up as the machine goes through its stitch formation.

There has to be a problem in your threading or your needle. You may have the needle inserted backwards, flat side has to face rear or the needle is bent. Totally unthread your machine and make sure that there are no tangles and that it feeding the right way. Watch how they show your for threading and winding the bobbin, plus threading the bobbin. Good luck, but I truly think it is in your threading.

Remove the top cover (grasp and lift straight up), spray with "Tri-Flow, liberally inside. Pay attention to the right 1/2 and behind the front dials.

In Front, each dial has a small square opening on the side, use the tube included with the "Tri-flow" to squirt lube inside them. DO NOT use WD-40.

Run the machine daily for 5-10 minutes (set the dial "C" [top front that goes up to 8] to 0 also set the dial on top of the case to 0. Move the Zig-Zag lever (upper right) from 0 to 4 and back again. Respray with Tri-flow. After a couple of days, if it is still stuck place a hair-dryer or light nearby to warm it up to skin temp.

Between the temp and the oil, it should begin working.
