My son bought the swing grip case for his psp. the directions tell us to remove the existing analog stick on his psp, this is not easily done we feel that it will damage the psp. any advice on how to do this or if we should do this.
My sons analog stick is impossible to remove when I followed the directions, it said to "smoothly pull upward" yeah right! It popped off in two pieces and the new ones can't be put on due to a broken base from the old stick and I'm nervous that if I try to pry it off that I'll damage it beyond repair....any advice? My sons analog stick is impossible to remove when I followed the directions, it said to "smoothly pull upward" yeah right! If I'm understanding the directions correctly, all you need to do is pull up on the analog cap. It snaps back on so don't be afraid when it comes off. If you lose the cap, i believe they sell replacements for it separately in most Best Buys, Circuit City, etc. They cost like 5 dollars for 3 or something....
After you pull off the cap there should be kind of a small stubby joystick.

simple, get a replacement joystick module and install it on your psp. i did a couple. the psp really isnt that intimidating to take apart. compared to an xbox 360 or playstation
Did you make sure not to lose the small transparent rectangle that is "floating" on top of the analog (in the inside). The analog does not work without it.
Check out this web site. All you need is a small philip screwdriver. the analog stick will be on the front plate. So all you need to do is STEP 1 on the web page. You can buy the analog stick on ebay.
Hope that helps.
Sticking on an analog stick is a very common thing on a PSP. If you have bought it within a year and haven't tampered with it, send it back to Sony. They will fix it free of charge. If it's outside of the 1 year warranty, you could always open the system and clean it out yourself. But I don't recommend this unless your warranty is up. Let me know if you need more information on doing it yourself.
your psp probobly has somthing lodged underneeth the analog stick like a pice of dirt or somthing very small.theres probly not much you can do yourself but you can take your psp to repair shops or some electronic stores that might be able to repare your psp and solve your problem...
Hey, looks like your PSP may have one of these two problems. There are 2 screws on the backside of the PSP System on the side of the analog stick. If either of the screw is loose then the analog stick will move by itself. Second problem is the Analog Stick itself has been damaged. You can replace these very easily if you are good with tools and electronics.
