Question about GPS
Garmin StreetPilot c510 GPS Receiver
I have a Garmin StreetPilot c510 and on the "About" screen is shows:-
Audio Version: Missing
Obviously, there are no voice prompts! This was a secondhand unit when I bought it and I suspect this is why the vendor was selling. I did not get any CD or DVD with the unit, so no way of reloading this piece of software. I have tried updating the software from Garmin website, but still the same message. Can you tell me where I can download this bit of software, as I cannot find it to download on the Garmin site? Or could someone email it to me?
If the unit indicates "software/firmware missing", then you can only try to re-install firmware by running WebUpdater again. If it doesn't work, then the unit has to be sent to service to have it re-flashed.

To bring your Garmin 45 XL back to life ( reset ) hold down page and start untill the screen comes on. It will take up to twenty minutes to locate your available satelites..

All Garmin users,
There is no easy solution for this except to return your unit to the nearest Garmin outlet. You need to have very special equipment called an E-Prom burner or writer which only Garmin have. With this equipment they re-programmed (restore) the operating system back on your specific Garmin unit and model.
The problem why anybody can't do it is because there is no way you can access your Garmin unit from a pc or mac if the operating system is lost or damage on your Garmin, for the simple reason your pc or mac can't reconize the device that is pluged in, because there are no communication platform between the two devices.
As simple as that, life with it or send your Garmin gps to an autherized professional Garmin dealer.

Take a look at this site, http://www.garmin.be/missing.html Download and unzip the software, plug your garmin in the USB and start the updater.exe program. It gets you started again. Later on you can use the Webupdater to get possible newer software..
It worked for me and my Zumo550

If the software/firmware is missing, there was an error during the update of the firmware, most likely corrupt file(s) causing the unit to not being able to boot up properly.
You can try plugging it in to the computer again and re-install latest firmware version again. If your unit is unable to stay on during this process however, you'd probably need to send this unit in to service, as there isn't much else to do, as an end user.
