Vtp proxy problem Could not create a connection to host []

If you don't want a proxy connection, then go into Internet Properties in the Control Panel and click the Connections tab when it opens up. Look down towards the bottom and click LAN Settings. When the LAN Settings window opens the only check mark should be on the first box that says Automatically Detect Settings. If you have Check Marks anywhere else on this window remove it. It sounds like you might have a check mark in the Proxy Server area that needs to be removed.

Click OK then close your browser and try connecting again.

I want to know how to forword port. I use D-link DWA-125 Wireless Adapter. I want to create DOTA(being a host). How can I do it?

If playing DOTA is the reason why you want to forward a port from your dlink router, I don't think that it is going to be necessary.
To be able to HOST a game in dota, you need to either be in a network or in a virtual private network.
LOCAL HOSTING - this means that you are hosting a game to PCs connected to your LAN under the same router. All you need to do is go to Local Area Connection in Warcraft TFT then create the game you want to host. If your friends is not able to see your game, make sure that your windows firewall has Warcraft TFT in its exceptions. Or you can turn off windows firewall as a workaround each time you play DOTA.
VPN HOSTING - this means you must have a specific software to use to host your DOTA game so friends can connect to you even if they are not under the same LAN or router. Best example of a software to use is GARENA. Garena is a vpn software that allows you to connect to players around the globe. You need to register a username and password to use garena. Download and install Garena to your computer. Login using your username and password to use garena. Once logged in, choose the room you want to host your game for. Choose the one under your current location (e.g. Choose Singapore if you are in Singapore). When you connect to the room, click Start Game to start your warcraft. You can HOST dota games by going to Local Area network in Warcraft TFT and create your game with a valid dota map. Same in LAN, you need to put Garena on the exception list of your firewall for people to see your hosted game.

Hope this helps.

The free hidden and dangerous (1) gives errormessage: 'failed to host session' and 'failed to initialize network connection' when trying to start a coop LAN-game. When trying to start a coop LAN-game in...

Since windows 7 you cant Host a game anymore! The only chance to host and play Hidden & Dangerous Deluxe under Windows 7 is to install VMWare Player and then install WinXP on it (VERY EASY AND FAST, you need a WinXP CD or a ISO file). Then you have to activate Direct3D under the settings of VMWare and it installs automatically VMWare Tools. After this you can install H&D Deluxe on the VM and play the game in full resolution and full speed (fps) without any error!

This helps if you have problems with hosting a game under Win7 with these errors:

  • A network is a group of computers (often called nodes or hosts) that can share information through their interconnections. A network is made up of the following components:

    Computer systems (nodes or hosts)
Transmission media--a path for electrical signals between devices
Network interfaces--devices that send and receive electrical signals
Protocols--rules or standards that describe how hosts communicate and exchange data
Despite the costs of implementation and maintenance, networks actually save organizations money by allowing them to:

    Consolidate (centralize) data storage
    Share peripheral devices like printers
    Increase internal and external communications
    Increase productivity and collaboration
There are several ways to classify networks. The following table lists several ways to describe a network.

Peer-to-Peer In a peer to peer network, the hosts provide and consume network services, and each host has the same operating system. Advantages of peer to peer networks include:
    Easy implementation
Disadvantages of peer to peer networks include:
    Difficult to expand (not scalable)
    Difficult to support
    Lack centralized control
    No centralized storage

Client/Server In a client/server network, hosts have specific roles. For example, some hosts are assigned server roles which allows them to provide network resources to other hosts. Other hosts are assigned client roles which allows them to consume network resources. Unlike peer to peer networks, hosts in a client/server network have different operating systems. Advantages of client/server networks include:
    Easily expanded (scalable)
    Easy support
    Centralized services
    Easy to backup
    Disadvantages of client/server networks include:
    Server operating systems are expensive
    Requires extensive advanced planning

    Geography and Size
Local Area Network (LAN) LANs reside in a small geographic area, like in an office. A series of connected LANs, or a LAN connected across several buildings or offices, is called an internetwork.
Wide Area Network (WAN) A WAN is a group of LANs that are geographically isolated but connected to form a large internetwork. When implementing a WAN, remember to provide local access to user resources to prevent a high rate of WAN traffic.
Private A LAN or WAN for private individual or group use which may or may not be secure. Examples include home and organization (small business, corporate, institute, government) networks. Intranets and extranets, although related to the Internet, are private networks. Both an extranet and intranet are tightly controlled, and made available only to select organizations. An extranet is made available to the public and an intranet is made available internally.
Public A large collection of unrelated computers, with each node on the network having a unique address. The Internet, for example, is a public network. Because computers are unrelated and many companies and individuals share the same communication media, the public network is by nature insecure.
Baseband Baseband signalling allows one signal at a time on the network medium (cabling).
Broadband Broadband signalling divides the network medium into multiple channels, allowing several signals to traverse the medium at the same time.

I got the error '' Unable to connect the printer , access denied , printer could not be started'' . I have a XP home m/c to which i have connected HP 1022 printer. I have shared it with all machines in the...

Are you on the same network as the host machine. In simple terms, the machine that you are trying to printer should be on the same network/domain.

click on start, right click on my computer and go to properties. Under properties check the computer name tab. specifically the workgroup. see if that matches the host machine. If it's different that's the issue.

If its different click on the button change, and type the domain in the box below.

hope this helps.

n if ur server is connected with other pc on lan .. you can use internet sharing option available in winxp.

Following are the steps to enable Internetsharing for other pcs.

How to use Internet Connection Sharing loadTOCNode(2, 'summary'); To use Internet Connection Sharing to share your Internet connection, the host computer must have one network adapter that is configured to connect to the internal network, and one network adapter or modem that is configured to connect to the Internet.

On the host computer loadTOCNode(3, 'summary'); On the host computer, follow these steps to share the Internet connection:
  1. Log on to the host computer as Administrator or as Owner.
  2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Click Network and Internet Connections.
  4. Click Network Connections.
  5. Right-click the connection that you use to connect to the Internet. For example, if you connect to the Internet by using a modem, right-click the connection that you want under Dial-up.
  6. Click Properties.
  7. Click the Advanced tab.
  8. Under Internet Connection Sharing, select the Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection check box.
  9. If you are sharing a dial-up Internet connection, select the Establish a dial-up connection whenever a computer on my network attempts to access the Internet check box if you want to permit your computer to automatically connect to the Internet.
  10. Click OK. You receive the following message: When Internet Connection Sharing is enabled, your LAN adapter will be set to use IP
address Your computer may lose connectivity with other computers on
your network. If these other computers have static IP addresses, it is a good idea to set them
to obtain their IP addresses automatically. Are you sure you want to enable Internet
    Connection Sharing?
  11. Click Yes.
The connection to the Internet is shared to other computers on the local area network (LAN). The network adapter that is connected to the LAN is configured with a static IP address of and a subnet mask of

Hurricane h5200 modem/router

Hello jmazaredo,

Does your DNS server have your server fqdn in its tables, and does your PC have the address of your DNS server in its lookup table?

One test you can do is to use the hosts file to put the fqdn into and assign it an address this would let you know the the PCs can use host tables to do the translation then this becomes a DNS issue as opposed to a lookup issue and you cut your troubleshooting in half.

In other words edit your hosts tables (hosts file) with the entry (Example 1):

This as stated will determine if you have a DNS issue or a lookup issue, because the DNS system will use host tables first and the do a DNS lookup.

Once this is done if it works then try this setup:

1) in your router set the DNS to capture the DNS of your ISP (normally the setting will tell the router to use the DNS given to it by the DHCP protocol.

2) turn on DHCP on the LAN side of the connection in the router and set the controls for proxy DNS service (using the router as the local DNS server also called caching DNS server), However set the router up to allow static IPAddreses and if possible to recognize the domain name of the local LAN.

3) set your servers up with static IP addresses and in their host tables set the fqdn up as stated above in Example 1

4) in your PC set the DNS to be the IP Address of your LAN side of your router i.e. and if needed set the host tables of all PCs to the server addresses, fqdn, and aliases this way if DNS fails the system will at least have the host tables to use.

I hope this helps.

Thank you,
