Hi Phil,

The only thing I can give you is a schematic of the frontsection. The final cannot be that difficult.

External Speaker hookup problem. I hooked up 2 external speakers (8 ohm, 160 watt) into my Marshall AVT 50 amp (tag on back says 4 ohm minimum). Everything worked fine, then I shut it down and now (next...

If you are competent with electronics, open it up and check the fuse(s). Especially if no lights come on. If you get voltage, then check the jacks you plugged into- they may have dirty interrupt contacts. When you plug the jack in- it opens those contacts that otherwise are closed making the circuit to the cabinet's built in speaker. Contact cleaner should clean them up if that is the issue.

While it is possible there is a power supply issue, you can see that quick with a voltmeter, it is not likely you did much more than blow a fuse.- very possible if you unplugged speakers with the amp operating..

If you think you killed it- you usually still get distorted noise.

Thank you for asking me directly to help you with your problem. However, either the question you are asking is not within my area of expertise (I am an automotive repair technician), or the question is incomplete and does not contain enough information for me to help you.

I have a marshall avt 100 which was working fine until i plugged new guitar in strummed one chord and the speaker went **** up, so i plugged into another cab and played a while then a week later plugged in...

This is a problem I would recommend for a qualified Marshall amp service person to look at. Worst case scenario is that somehow the speaker out put transformer or the power transformer burned out. They aside from output tubes are the most expensive parts to replace. Add shop labor on top. Ask for an estimate first. Consider how much a new amp will cost and then decide. I would personally go for the repair myself.

Hi thecross

I have fixed so many of these amps over the years... Marshall Valvestate series of amps are notorious for dry solder joints developing on the main PCB. If you have the skills(or an old mate that does)Remove the PCB from the chassis and resolder any suspect dry joints and you will fix the problem. Check particularly about any components there the PB has changed colour. This is an indication of heat in that area, and heating and cooling is a major cause dry joints.
I am more than happy to answer any other questions you may have about it, just give me a hoy :) If you are still unsure, or have problems, then before you give a rating for this advice, please get back to me and we can try some more things.
Thanks for using FixYa, If you consider the advice I have given you as sound, a FixYa rating is a great reward for my efforts to help you. Cheers.

Marshall AVT 150head no power

I would go ahead and take it apart, after you unplug it or course. if there is fuse on the back there will be one just off the ac line inside. These amps have an 12ax7 tube in them I beleive ,and large filter capacitors in them where voltage could be stored for a time after you unplug it ,but this is a fairly modern amp with bleeder resistors so it will be safe . you can wait over night to be safe, anyway you won't go touching the large capacitors anyway you are just changing a fuse. look for something like 2 amp or 5 amp in value. replace it with the same value.
