If u have placed the correct drive then it should work if not try with installing realtek driver .even after all that it does not work then your audio chip is not working u can get a audio adapter for that

Let me know if your pc is running with winxp if winxp there will such problem doesnot exist. but in case of win98 you have to test drivers which is available in win98 and match to usb pci
follow this procedure
go to mycomputer
select device manager
click on scan for device
new hardware instalation wizard
search for new hardware
automaticaly update drivers
check one or more driver
and save which is compitable to your pci usb
