First, Uninstall your program using Add/Remove Program in Control Panel.

Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs

Note: Be aware of shared files don't remove them, it will affect other programs that use that file

After Uninstall, restart your computer

Then start again, proceed to installation of your program.

DVD Player On Laptop Stopped Working

Does it work for anything? Does it read data or audio CDs? Canyou save files to it? Can you format a CD/RW? If NOT reinstall the DRIVER.

Toshiba satellite L40 dvd player will not work. have re-installed dvd player and tried updating driver but nothing is happening

Open your Windows Explorer (My Computer) window. Is the DVD/CD icon there? If it's not there, follow these steps:
  1. Click the following link to download the remove upper/lower filters from the windows registry._ http://tiny.cc/9BV5G (RmvFltrs.exe). Save the file to the Windows Desktop.

    Unzip then,
  2. For Windows XP, double-click the file RmvFltrs.exe on the Windows Desktop to start the installation program.

For Windows Vista, right-click the RmvFltrs.exe file, and choose the "Run as Administrator" option. If a User Account Control dialog box displays the message, "An unidentified program wants access to your computer", click Allow.

  3. Follow the onscreen prompts to complete the installation.

  4. Restart the Computer.
    It should work.
