Your reed valve is not closing, having this replaced will solve your issue, plus more power to the generator.

I have a generator with a GX340 engine. The carburetor leaks fuel from what appears to be an overflow port on the engine side of the carburetor. How do I stop the leak.

Your problem is with the needle valve and seat. Check to see if the tip on the needle valve is rubber and possibly damaged. Also see if something is blocking the bottom of the seat. I say this because gas coming in from the tank will lift the float that lifts the needle valve into the seat stopping gas flow. Your gas flow is not stopping, i.e. the overflow. Please let me know what you find. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

It is leaking gas on the side

Check your fuel lines first ! ! Slight crack might be the problem. If it has sat for a long time, the needle valve may be stuck open, causing the fuel to spill out of the carburetor . You would need to remove the fuel bowl and spray a little carb cleaner in there to loosen the needle valve.... Good Luck

Gentron 10000w generator has a leaking carburator

Your carburetor float valve may be stuck open. You'll have to remove the carburetor, remove the sediment bowl at the bottom of the carburetor (where the float is), and check the float. Is it filled with gas? Replace the float if it is. If the float is dry inside, then remove the float and clean the needle valve & seat. (be careful to note how the float pin, linkage, spring, etc. are positioned so you properly reassemble. After cleaning & reassembling, turn the carburetor upside down & try blowing into the gas line connection on the carburetor. You shouldn't be able to blow air. Turn the carburetor right side up & repeat. If you can blow air into the carburetor's gas line connection, the float valve & seat are properly working. Reinstall the carburetor. You should be good to go.

Gas leaking from Ariens 42" 93603700

sounds like the carburetor Needle valve is sticking. A good Carburetor cleaning will fix that ...The easiest way to semi fix the problem is to buy a Small Shut off valve (about $6) and put it in the gas line between the gas tank and the carburetor. Then shut that valve off every time you finish mowing. This Ethanol gas that we are forced to use is a carburetor killer..

I have a Honeywell HW5500 generator that is leaking gas between carb and manifold.

My HW5500 is a little more than one year old. It leaks gas after the gas valve is opened. I took the carburetor apart. It turns out the float valve (needle) was corroded. The valve got stuck in the open position by the loosened particles. I smooth it out & cleaned up the corrosion for a temporary fix. It works for now. I am looking for a replacement valve with better quality for a permanent fix.

It will not stay running I have to choke it to start it then it dies after I take the choke off it's die. It just act like it out of gas I changed the fuel filler

not getting gas, since gas is going to carburetor then the carburetors float/needle is not working, will need to clean/rebuild/replace carburetor. I am assuming that the mower sat awhile with gas left in it and the gas has gummed up the carburetor, sometimes it will clog the lines, filter and pump, you can use carburetor cleaner to clean it up and you may want to try blow air through the ports, Good Luck Tim

I have a Gen Power 10hp OHV Briggs & Stratton which is very hard to start. I have changed the spark plug, taken the air filter off but will not start.

I recently had trouble with my own generator. My situation was that the old gas left in the unit smelled more like lacquer than gas, the generator had not been cranked in over a year, and it simply wouldn't even attempt to fire when pulling the starter cord.

I checked the oil level, and drained and replaced the gas. I applied liberal amounts of carburetor cleaner into carburetor. The generater would briefly fire with cleaner in the carburetor. I also removed the spark plug, grounded it against the chasis, and observed good spark when I pulled the cord. This left me to believe gas simply was not getting into carburetor.

I removed the bowl and saw it was full of gas. With a container ready to catch any gas, I opened the valve near the tank and observed liberal amounts of fuel spilling from where bowl mounts to carburetor. So, good gas flow to bowl confirmed.

Using carburetor cleaner and compressed air, I blew out and attempted to clean every orifice I could see. I also checked the float assembly and saw the needle valve that allows/blocks fuel into bowl was operating freely. Reassembled everything, and still wouldn't start.

Took the bowl back out and gave the float assembly further inspection. On my unit, there is a large hole in the center of the assembly where the "perforated brass straw" should be sucking up gas. In the bottom of that hole I discovered a brass plug. I didn't spot this plug before because is was totally encrusted in trash. I was able to remove the plug. This thing is about 4mm long and wide. In the center of this plug I discovered a completely clogged hole. I had to actually scrape it clean with a metal pick, being careful not to damage the metal. I then followed up with lots of carb cleaner and compressed air to make the plug and the tiny hole completely clean. I replaced the plug, replaced the bowl, and the generator fired right up.

I wanted to share my story with you because of the frustration I went through taking my carburetor off at least 8 times before finally discovering this tiny brass plug that no one on any of the forums has ever mentioned.

I would like an owners manual of a HuaSheng F142 49cc engine. My carburetor needs adjustment and is leaking gas. I'd also like to know if I can just buy a new carb for this engine and where. Thanks, Jeff.

thatsdax.com sells carbs

Your carb is probably leaking gas because of a problem with the fuel pintle valve. It is stuck open most likely. The pintle is a small metal rounishtriangular shaped piece of metal attached to the plastic fuel float, inside the bowl of the carb. Remove the 10mm bolt to gain access. The black plastic screw is for idle adjustment. The brass screw on the side of the carb with a spring behind it is your only a/f ratio adjustment.
