Question about Maxtor OneTouch II 100 GB Hard Drive

HELP!?!? E:// is not accesible the file or directory is currupt and unreadable

All of a sudden my hard drive stop reading and I couldn't access it. All I was doing was loading music onto my itunes from my maxtor and it came up with this message all of a sudden. I have tried troubleshooting and nothing seems to work! How do I fix this or am I doomed? :( Help!?!

    everything is properly connected. I have had this HD since '05. Never had a problem before. I would really hate to lose all those files.

Have you checked the usb wire or ports from and to the hard drive?

Best thing to do is to format it. If it does not format, then the hard disc needs to be repaired.

Currupted and unreadable.

Goto control Panel /admin tools/computer management then **** management. There you will see your drive, right click it and choose change drive letter and paths now call it Z or whatever you choose. See if it will read now if not try plugging it into another PC. If all this fails i think a format is only option but choose quick format. 99% of data is still recoverable using recovery software. 1. right click it properties and the tools and the disk will remove the bad sectors it may be having.
2. if then also it doesnt work luk out for a formatting in fat 32 mode,.

HARD DISK reading but no files appearing..!!!

Sometimes this happens when the computer is turned off by force e.g. lightning/suspend mode. You'll have to use hard drive recovery tools in my oppinion which could cost quite a lot.

About my seagate 160 gb hard drive (external)

i hav usb seagate 160 gb hard disk.nw it is nt getting open message is the file or directory is corrupted or unreadable........CHKDSK is also not working for it.error is "unable to determine volume version and start"....plz help fast

Your hard-drive is crashed and unreadable by win32.dll what you can do is try kick starting by using your friend computer it just might do it. I had same problem and I asked my son to using my hard-drive on his PC. It worked and still working. good luck
