Unplug the PC, look inside on the board for a small glass-body fuse and replace it with the exact rating the one that blew had i.e. volts and amps

most competent persons can do this themselves with a little caution and a photograph before you remove the old one...!

My sandisk 8gb cruzer blade is a very slow one,,n givs a max data trnsfr rate of 2.8 mb/s. How can it b solved??

Hi sayak.

When you plug in the card reader, does a little bubble pop up on your screen saying that it could work faster if plugged into a USB 2.0 port?

2.8mb/s is actually a pretty fast transfer rate for a card reader, but it is possible, if you are using the front USB ports of your computer, that you could get a faster rate by plugging it into the rear ports, as they are 2.0 in most boxes.

Front card readers and ubs ports not responding

Most likely the USB driver is corrupted.  Uninstall the one you have now from Device manager, reboot and when the New Hardware wizard appears let it get it from Windows Update.

After reading the description, I think you need to try updating BIOS and latest device drivers for USB. Because USB are getting power on that means there would not be any fault to from the motherboard.

So please try updating latest BIOS for your notebook.
If you can provide me the product no for your notebook and the operating system which you are using currently then I can find the one for you.

Otherwise you can also do the same.

Type in the product no. on www.hp.com. Then go to software and driver download page, select the proper OS and search in BIOS ROM pack available for your notebook.

I hope this will help.

3.5'' internal memory card reader/writer installation problem

Your reader/writer is set up for use on 2 USB ports (hence the 9 pin connector), one port for the reader and one for the externak USB port. This has nothing to do with the port version. The long and short of it is you need a card with a matching internal header. NEVER break off a pin! Some of these headers have reversed connectons so you probably broke of one of the data pins and runed that header's ability. Typically the readers like you have come with several cables, so that they can match the headers you have available. Older motherboards and add on USB cards did not use standardized header configurations aas you seem to have found out. Your best bet at this point is contact the manufacturer of the reader and find out what brand of add on USB cards they recommend and go with that. AND AGAIN NEVER REMOVE ANY PINS FROM A HEADER !!!

TRY A DIFFERENT USB PORT ON PC...usb has 2 standards...1.5 and 2.0...new Dell,at least, has 1.5s on front;faster 2.0 usb ports on back...2.0's will drive 1.5 devices, but 1.5 ports won't drive 2.0 devices

USB ports work at 1.1; s/b 2.0

Your computer is functioning correctly.
The USB ports on your laptop are USB1 ports its pard of the hardware.
Your PCMCIA USB 2 card runs at USB 2 speed and therefore when you connect a USB 2 device to this port you will not get this USB message.

Downloading digital camera to computer

I'm not familiar with the Vivicam, but most cameras do not require any software. You just plug in the cable to a USB port on the computer and then look in Start - My Computer for the camera's memory. If that does not work, try some other USB device to make sure the computer's USB port is actually working. A memory stick would be perfect to try. If the port does not work, take the computer back to the store and have them fix it. Probably just a matter of the ports not being enabled in the computer setup or a loose connection. If you have ports on both the front and back of the computer, try them. If all else fails, you could use a card reader. Many all-in-one printer devices have card readers and you can buy a little card reader for perhaps $25 so you can take the memory card out of the camera and read it on the computer.
