Question about HP Pavilion dv9000z Notebook

1 Answer

My dv9000 may need to be sent to HP for repair. It is not powering up. I have tried many of the solutions posted here, and determined it will have to be shipped off. Will I lose all of the data I have? Photos, music etc.. Is there any way I can get this info off before I send it in for repair? Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you.

have you tried replaceing the power supply? They are the weak link in the power chain. I've had to replace 3 already for 2 laptops we have at home.

If its not a powering up then you can't create a backup. But don't worry. Its a power supply error.( Hardware problem not a software). Be cool and visit your HP repair house. They operate on your laptop for hardware problem. when its done the power will back on your system. After that you can use it normally even no need to format. You can do one more thing if you have any friend or relative who are using same type power cord then just try to plug on there power cable on your system. It may run. Some time Power cable get damaged and people facing those kind of problem. Few chances happens on your laptop.
1. Power cable adaptor damaged.
2. power port on your taptop damaged.
3. SMPS fault/ short.

Thanks, i am waiting for your feed back & if you satisfied then thumps me please.

Hp dv9000 on and off problem is there any

It sounds like your power supply is not charging the battery and the battery is dead (enough to try to turn on, but not more than that).
check the power adapter output with a volt meter.
Make sure the battery charge light is on when the power adapter is connected.
if all looks good there, try removing the battery and turning the unit on while plugged in.
if none of these work, post a reply here to this solution.

dv2000/dv6000/dv9000 recall
I have an out of warranty dv9000 and haven't had wireless for months. I just discovered HP issued a recall for the wireless and other problems with several different Pavilion and Presario models. For the wireless problem with the dv9000 they are replacing the motherboard on all notebooks in or out of warranty. I was wondering if anyone has had the repair done under the recall and how it turned out? I'm also wondering if HP is still cosmetically trashing notebooks when they are sent in for repair?

HP DV9000 Stopped working

Whether or not the motherboard is smoked depends upon what happened to cause the power jack to get broken in the first place. I know that if sent to HP, they would not spend any time attempting to fix the jack, they would replace the motherboard. If the jack has come loose from the board without damaging the traces, it is possible to repair this quite simply. That assumes that you bring the unit to a shop that regularly repairs surface mounted boards. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THIS YOURSELF.

Sorry about the capital letters, but it is important to note that an improper repair attempt can completely ruin the motherboard.

Please update this with your location and I will try to find a servicer in your area.

HP Pavilion dv9000 Problem

I understand that your Notebook is not booting into windows.

To isolate the issue please try to boot the Notebook in Safemode.

Restart the Notebook and keep pressing F8 key and select Safe mode to boot.

Please try to perform the following steps also

= Power Drain =

1. Disconnect the AC Adapter.
2. Remove the Battery.
3. Hold the Power button down for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
4. Reconnect the AC adapter and Battery.
5. Turn on the Notebook power.

If your Notebook is booting into Safemode. Then try to restore the Notebook to factory settings. Before restoring the Notebook backup your data.

I hope this will work.
Thanks
