Question about Maytag MDB7100AWB Dishwasher

1 Answer

Fills with water, sounds like it starts to pump water then stops, then start again. It attempts to start pumping water 3 or 4 times them turns off leaving the water in the tub. I have read about the water needing to heat up for the cycle to advance. When I check the water that is left in the tub it is warm but not hot. The heating element is not hot either. I did a continuity test on the heating element and it seems to check out ok. I also did a continuity test on the red wire from the heating element to the circuit board (ok). Also check the white wire to the circuit board (ok). The thermostat tested positive on the continuity test. The circuit board does not have any visible  flaws or  soder  breaks. I'm wondering if there is a water flow issue. The pumps seems to start pumping but quickly (2 seconds or so) stops then start again. Is there a way to test is this is an issue? Would a water flow issues cause these symptoms? Is there a diagnostic test for the heating element? I already tried the continuity test with a meter? Thanks, Darin Dishwasher fills then I hear a humming and it doesnt wash, Clicks off then hums some more and clicks off. It does drain and fill.

You have a wash pump problem. can be 1 of 3 things. most likely something is caught in the pump impelor if not the wash pump motor may be faulty or ceized or it could be the capacitor for the wash pump motor is faulty. you can try removing the wash pump yourself and check the impelor if it spins freely then you will have a motor problem.
hope this helped

Start light flashing, rince light on.machine will not start cycle

Hello. I really need the make/model number to help you accurately. However, from the symptoms you're describing, it sounds like the drain pump is jammed. A lot of dishwashers turn on the drain pump first to remove any stagnant water sitting in the bottom of the pump. Then, fresh water is let into the tub, fills to the proper amount, then the main pump starts. The lights flashing are an error code--different combinations of buttons flashing mean different things. On some models, a button light will flash a certain number of times, pause, then flash another number of times. This is a binary code telling the user what is malfunctioning. That's why I need the model number and any other info to help diagnose the issue. Thanks!

You are going to have to remove the spray bars and the filter at the top of the pump housing to see if something is stuck in the pump

I have a haier hdc1804tw it starts, pumps out old water, fills new water, than stops. It wont activate. Any advice?

Have you had any luck with this? Ours just started doing this tonight after no problems (had it for 3 years, light use). "Feels like" a pump isn't kicking in to pump the water to the arm.

Dishwasher fills with water. then hums but dosen't clean

Sounds like water-level sensor is ok as it stops filling then 'hums'. I'd (carefully) check the connections to the connections between the level-sensor and the wash motor start relay. Could be motor is bad or something is causing it to become 'jammed'. Before you begin opening the appliance, I'd attempt to vacuum out the water or try putting the control in the last position to cause it to try to pump out the water.

Samsung Dishwasher (DMR57LFS): Error code oE. Fills...fills some more...then drains.

Samsung Dishwasher 0E Error - We had other appliances on that circuit. We believe when those appliances were turned on it created an undervoltage condition in the dishwasher, causing another sensor to send the high level error code 0E. We believe this is the problem because it only started after we added the new hot water dispenser on the same circuit. The problem went away when we leave it off for the whole dishwasher cycle. I'm guessing it could also be caused by brown-outs and other large electrical loads cycling in the same household. That's the theory anyway. The folks who sold us the dishwasher suggested turning off the breaker, to reset the computer. Good idea, but not for our particular case.

Larry,
The float is generally for overflow conditions and will interrupt power to the fill valve solenoid.
If you are not filling completely in the time allowed by the timer, it is most likely a flow restriction in the water supply. Barring other obvious restrictions, the fill valve has filter screens on the inlet side of the fill valve, which is generally the cause of your symptoms. Be careful if you attempt to clean the screens, as the fill valves are very sensitive to debris, and can become stuck open if sediment gets past the screen. I usually replace the fill valve to avoid future problems.
Hope this helps.
