Question about GE Washing Machines
You may have a broken shock / this willl cause the machine to try to spin but cannot . after it try's several times the prosser will shut it down. sometimes the shock just has come loose it may not be broken .. hope this helps **** ..

Probably a motor speed controller, this is pretty involved to test. Inside your washer is a wiring schematic-tech sheet. This is usually in a plastic bag on the side of one of the walls. Remove the front lower access panel, and see if you can find it. If it is not on the walls, remove the top cover and check from above. Read the steps to test the motor and speed control. You will need an electical tester and will need to know how to use it. If you able to use the tech sheet to find the problem, then follow the steps carefully.
