Question about Movado Eliro 0605377 Wrist Watch

1 Answer

Besides the battery is there something else that would cause my Movado to stop working. I just bought a new battery and it isn't working. I'm hoping that the new battery is bad.

Sometimes there is a special procedure to be followed when replacing a battery.

I looked at the user instructions for Modavo (generic instructions for their watches, not one for your specific model) and I found no special instructions for replacing a battery.

The last resort is to do to a Modavo stockist and explain the situation and ask for his help.

You can find a list of stockists on their web site (Modavo.com). In the menu on the left is "find a retailer", click on this to find your near shop.

Movado Clock has sat for years, still new, new battery inserted but will not run. Any ideas?

These timepieces are delicate, precision devices. Dirt, lint etc. can affect their operation. While most time it is hard for it to enter with the back on - one thing that can happen is oxidation. When wearing it - it reaches body temperature - and taking it off results in rapid cooling. This causes condensation to form inside the case and can eventually lead to oxidation. Bring it to a trusted jeweler for a cleaning and it should be good as new.

That watch has a quartz movement and most likely needs a new battery. Take it to a jeweler or to Sears for the replacement. It only takes a few minutes and should coat about $10.

I am a Jeweler and in Nov. I changed a Movado battery whick I have done for 13 years with out a problem. The customer claims that the stem doesn't work. I had set the time and it was hard to turn. Now...

mcdevito75 here, You don"t really have to be an authorized Movado dealer or repair center to service Movado watches, specially if Movado doesn"t have a warrantee on that particular watch. Also you say the stem was hard to turn, sounds like this particular Movado watch mechanism was starting to fail. The long and short is, you replaced the battery, set the watch and all was well when the customer recieved the watch back also, a Quartz mechanism could give out at anytime, just as a light bulb can. Have the customer come back with the watch if possible, place a drop of oil on the stem, try a replacement battery. Always ley your customers know what you find, and get a history of the watch from the customer before work, Age of watch, how it"s worn and stored etc. this way your covering yourself for any watch liability. You can offer this customer the mentioned re- service or a refund just to keep the customer happy.

My watch battery low. watch name MOVADO series 800

mcdevito75 here, Movado a FINE watch, BEST BET, look for a small watch repair shop in your area to change the battery, Movado watches have a very good over all value and any damage can lessen that value, not to mention the jewelers screwdriver you"ll need to change that battery.

How to set the clock how do i no the battery good just got it

If the watch is not running it's probably the battery. To set, pull the crown out and turn to adjust the time. Push the crown in to run the watch. If the watch is new the battery should be OK but take it back to the store if it doesn't run. If you bought it used take it to any watch shop for a battery replacement. Sears does it for about $8 or less.

My Movado Series 800 second hand zeroes out at the 3-second spot, not at zero (12).

The chronograph can be reset by pulling out the crown to the first or second position and pressing the start button or top button. This will begin to move the sweep arm and you can stop it on the 12:00 or 0 position. Make sure that when you have the battery changed they do this for you.

Changed battery in Movado. Is there a way to reset?

No, there isn't any buttons you are missing.
My first advie is to test battery for full power. If it is, then clean all contacts in battery hatch.
If it still do not work, the gear train can be jammed or the integrated circuit faulty and repairs can be undertaken by skilled watchmaker only.
