Question about Kenmore 55612 / 55614 / 5561 / 655619 Side by Side Refrigerator
I had my new Kenmore Elite 5771 delivered 02/15/08 and the crushed ice dispenser will not function. It jams after dispensing very very little. The cubed ice is generally not a problem. The one time I had an issued with dispensing cubed, I dumped the ice to find the crushing blades tangled on each other. I untangled the blades which restored cubed dispenser but the crushed ice dispensing still doesn't seem to have the power to actually crush the ice. The motor whines and shuts off until it resets itself three minutes later as stated in "Trouble Shooting" section on manual.
yes and no ...... there is no real adjustment for it but you may have a sticking solenoid .....OK in the back of the unit remove the hopper and you will see the solenoid loop (white Plastic) in the back wall this need to pull up in order for the unit to dispense cubes. it maybe sticking ....now by moving it up and down a few times with your hand to make sure it is free....next dump all the ice out of the hopper and check the arm thathat sticks out the back of the hopper make sure it is not frozen after that reassby and place a few cubes back in the hopper to see if it is working..Let me know

Most likely the problem you are having is with the crushed ice solonoid. It is located in the back of the freezer behing the icebucket. The little metal arm from the icebucket goes into a hole, the hole is part of the solonoid. To make sure the problem is with the solonoid, first take the icebucket out and look at the little metal arm on the bottom. When you lift it, it will open for crushed or cubed ice in the bucket dispencer hole. If it works properly then the solonoid is bad.
This repair is sometimes a really hard repair, because it is so hard to get all the stuff out of the way to replace the solonoid. You have to remove the icebucket holder and most likely the icemaker, and on some models you will have to remove the fan and several other pieces to get to it. If you feel like trying the repair let me know, I can ship you the part, I keep almost everyone of those on hand, all I would need is your model and address. My number is (865)945-3808. or my email is firstname.lastname@example.org . Thanks and I hope this will FixYa. Michael Anderson

Carriage that moves ice bucket rod up is frozen. It's right by the auger drive mote on the left- square hole. Remove bucket and try to free it with your finger. If no luck take hair dryer until you can move it up and down.

I had the same issue and here's what I did to fix it. I pulled out my ice bin. Pushed the metal rod that's underneath it up. Pushed it back into place so that the metal rod would go above the lever in the hole in the back. Sorry- don't know any of the technical terms or names of parts, but once I readjusted the position of the rod I got ice cubes. Hope it works for you!

Remove the ice bin. Look at the back wall, behind where the bin was. You should see a rectangular hole, about 1.5 x 1 inches near the bottom of where the ice bin was. There should be a white plastic part inside the hole. This plastic part should be able to be lifted up with your finger, and drop down again when you release it. If is does not move, it may be frozen, or the electrical solenoid connected to it may have melted. If the part moves freely, just replace the ice bucket and try to dispense cubes again. (the metal arm sticking out the back of the ice bucket might have gotten on the wrong side of the white plastic part in back)
